The Sundering ( spoiler alert )

Did anyone read these six books? The Sundering? The books that leads to DnD next, the fifth edition? If so, can you please post a summary of the story? I don't want to invest time reading stuff related to the fifth edition, but I'm curious still.

• Fast forward many many years (100?).
• Protagonist characters from the Drizz't novels are reincarnated by Milliki.
• Gunpowder, cannon, muskets, and pistols exist. Early renaissance models.
• Harpers become an institutionalized power with their own citadels and academies.
• Myth Drannor falls again.
• Candlekeep is infiltrated by goons from many different major factions.
• Candlekeep is apparantly Mystra's backup plan for if she died, to store magic.
• Larloch owns everbody but gets tricked by Elminster, who'm he asked for help to make himself the next god of magic.
• The Shadow Netherese kill themselves by overreaching to make Telamont Tanthul the next god of magic. Larloch and the chosen kill them.
• Mystra is reborn through her Chosen and magic works properly once more.

5th edition Forgotten Realms is ultimately a restoration of Faerun since what happened in the Spellplague. Practically all the gods are back (even the Dark Three, Bhaal, Myrkul and Bane who died in the Times of Troubles) and all the countries that were basically spellnuked are restored too.

It's kinda like a sitcom, when during one season, they tried something different and shook things up but in the end, everything went back to normal

I've read the Sentinel and The Harald.

The Sentinel is a great and easy read that stands on its own well enough that you only need basic knowledge of the realms to understand what's going on. It tells of the chosen of Helm joining up with a chosen of Siamorphe, a chosen of Sune and a chosen of Myrkul.

secretly a chosen of Cyric

There goal is to keep the powerful artifact the eye of Grummish out of the hands of Shar's followers and deliver it to a temple of Grumbar to convince him to stay on Toril and not travel to the splitting Abar to hold Shar at bay. It also features Helm's full revival at a rather bad ass moment.

The Herald should be read as another follow up of the long running Eliminster books. You follow Eliminster and friends as they struggle to keep the weave alive. Myth Drannor is under complete seige so that Shar can take the power of the Mythral. Whlie Candlekeep is full of spies from almost every order seeking it's rare lore and the power of its wards the strongest remaining and one of the last pillers holding the weave. Larloch plays a big part, you also see the elves of Myth Drannor again like Fflar. Mystra returns by the end.

The sundering itself can mostly be summed up by Ao is rewriting the tablets of fate and all the gods are making power plays. Meanwhile Abar and Toril are splitting apart again. In real life it's mostly the writers fixing the problems 4e caused. As most of the Authors never got any input in 4e.
