Suggestion: Get away from the nasty greyhawk height system

Unread post by CommanderKrieg »

I know some people like playing elves that are midgets, but for the rest of us that want our elves to be the correct size in forgotten realms:

There is this very nice height correction! :)

Elves should be able to be 6 ft. Its always bothered me that my elf will always be towered over by humans.

Last I checked, Forgotten Realms player handbook has elves as short.
For life to be worth living, afterlife must retain individuality, personal identity and  memories without fail  - https://www.sageadvice.eu/do-elves-reta ... afterlife/
A character belongs only to their player, and only them. And only the player may decide what happens.

http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Elf

5"4 - 6"

in both 3rd and 4th edition.

If you can find somewhere else in forgotten realms lore that says they are short, I havent seen it :?

In greyhawk it is "averaging between 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 feet and 95 to 135 pounds"

High Elves: 5'5 - 6'1
source: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/High_elf

Wood Elves: "Wood elves are roughly identical to other elves in height and build, with males larger than females."
source: Races of Faerûn. (Wizards of the Coast), p. 45.
http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Wood_elf

Moon Elves: "Like all eladrin, the Teu-tel-quessir are tall, close to humans in height"
Source: Races of Faerûn. (Wizards of the Coast), p. 38.
http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Moon_elf

And the other sources are listed on the Wiki. From what I gathered from every source. Elves can be short, but typically arent that short.

Then on the worst of sources: Wikipedia

"The various elven subraces are more prominent in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, and Faerûn boasts several major subraces. They differ physically from typical Dungeons & Dragons elves in that they are as tall as humans (5′9″ on average), or even taller. The exception are the Drow, who are of standard D&D elven height. In Faerûn, surface elves call themselves Tel-Quessir which means "The People" in the elven language. In 4th edition, most of the elven subraces were classified as drow, eladrin or elves."

Races of Faerun is the only valid source for BGTSCC.

Moon, Sun, Wood and Wild elves height is randomized like this:

4'10" +2d10 for males
4'5" +2d10 for females

Drow use the Greyhawk height from the PHB.

edited. Stupid american measurements.

Yep. I know how they are randomized, but the height in game doesnt reflect the wide range. Most of the sources are from Races of Faerun.
