Holy Sword & Lawful Sword

Unread post by Kinkurono »

As suggested let's move the discussion about the changes to Holy and Lawful sword to here.

I'd suggest two options for holy sword:

Change it back to 1min/level(or 30secs/level if that is possible) but remove the dispel and just leave the 2d6 damage vs evil
or
Change it to 1min/level(Or 30secs/level if that is possible) keep the dispel and scale down the damage to 1d6 or 1d8 divine damage vs evil ?

Why remove the +5EB vs evil ? Well paladins or any other casters probally will have acess to GMW or Weapons of the deity which already give EB (at CL20 being +5EB).

On Lawful sword :
Well, Lawful sword seems fine the way it is. just bring it back to 1min/level

Here is a third idea to differ it Holy sword and Lawful sword from each other:
Keep the +5 EB vs evil, 2d6 vs evil (And maybe the dispel)
but make it so it does not stack with any other spells like Flaming sword, bless weapon, etc. just maybe GMW or weapons of the deity
And while that lawful sword would allow these effects to stack. (remove the +5EB vs chaotic).

Not sure about making wands/scrolls of it, i'd be leaning towards no and make it exclusive for paladins.

Only if the spell is 1d8 only no +5 EB and no Dispel. Paladins already have GMW and Weapon of the Deity regardless of their lesser spell slots they are powerful enough giving them even more exclusive spells only furthers the power gap between them and other builds on the server.

I think we might be playing on a different server? Paladins are in no way op. In exchange for that holy sword you can have 9th level cleric spells, free weapon focus/specializations, haste, DR 10 and no rp restrictions. We are speaking about an average of 6 damage against evil monsters here that requires 15 paladin levels and as paladins don't gain full caster progression is dispelable at level 30.

Cast a spell > Right click character and go to character details > follow up with magic related options and then report latest casterlevel and DC.

Rangers as well. I had the impression everyone was aware of this...
Many of the changes done during the course of years, on base classes and PRCs, are missing...

That is a bug to be fixed though, not something to be used as an argument one way or another.

But wait, i just casted weapons of deity on my level 21 paladin, he gained +5 EB (Which would only happen if his CL was 20) Are you guys 100% sure it's only half progression ?

Yes it is. 100% certain. It has been tested not only with the character details but dispels as well.

10rounds+2rounds/level (if that's possible?), exclusive to paladins. No wands or scrolls. I presented my arguments against the spell being wandable in this thread, over several posts.
