Witch Sight

Unread post by DiceyCZ »

Hello, so I picked this invocation and I am not sure it works as advertised. Since I am not familiar with the systems enough please consider this asking / possible bug report. The spell says it should see through sanctuary but I couldn't attack a mage using GS nor did I "see" what spells he was casting in it. Also the spell should suppress mirror image and concealment and dispel illusion projections. Since there is supposed to be silent check I have no idea how to check if that works but the mage of same level I tested it with did not get anything suppressed seemingly and it did not dispel any of his "conjured" illusions. If I have unsatisfactory DC for that...that's possible but I have Fey power/focus invocations build with 28 CHA atm. So that would mean the spell is seriously weak if the effect didn't appear even once.

GS is still an ethereal effect (the name is slightly deceiving. In PnP, Greater Sanctuary was called Etherealness. It was called Greater Sanctuary in nwn1, in base nwn2 it was called Etherealness like in PnP. This server appears to have renamed it and deviated from nwn2/PnP, going back to nwn1's name.). It allows you to see the target, but you still can't attack them, as true seeing (witch sight's effect) lets you see but not attack ethereal targets (you can see onto the plane but you yourself are still not on it).

The will save is against caster level, with 28 CHA (assuming level 30, so, +3 epic DC bonus), a +2 cha item, and the aforementioned feats, you'd have a DC of 29. From what I'm reading on the spell, you roll 29 vs the caster level to suppress mirror images/concealment effects for 1 round and a will save against their caster level to dispel hostile illusions. More experimentation is probably needed to see what constitutes a "hostile projected or illusionary image" (what the dispel effects), but that sounds like summons to me. Maybe offensive spells too?

Not entirely sure if fey power/focus: invocations work with Witch Sight. That could be a thing, too.

Allright granted I didn't know how the ethereal/sanctuary thing works :) But the illusions and wards was mage lvl 22-23 I think and my DC should be 26/27 on that spell (lvl 21) and I couldn't hit him most of the time with 50% conceal and mirror image got dismissed only by me hitting it (no hit until I punched through images).
