Two different CD Keys, one game account?

Unread post by kellendril »

Hi everyone, I've just received a new laptop and I was wondering how it works if I install the game from Steam rather than using my CDs. Do I need to input the same CD Keys to play on my kellendril account on the game server, or can I link my new CDkeys to the same account without breaking the old connection? I want to be able to play on both systems.

You can do either. If you reuse your old CD keys, you can switch between either computer without any issue at all. If you want to use your new CD keys you need to send me, the Head DMs, and the Sysop a PM so we can set your account up for it.

Otherwise you will be booted if you try to log in on CD keys not associated with your user name.

It would make for interesting things like moving items between the Doron Amar armory mule and my main character (makes them so much easier) if I used two different keys, yes?

You would be able to do so with two different CD keys. As I understand it, the practice, called "hot boxing," is generally frowned upon for purposes of RPing though (as it can often cross into metagaming territory, as people will sometimes try to use it to get around metagaming rules).

I would only ever use two accounts at once when I needed to move something from the armory mule to the main character, though I see your point in that. I only really have one character I play at any given time, its all I can manage RP wise!

The other reason I'd like to work from two CDkeys is that I am currently away from home for the next 4 days, on a new laptop, and don't know my old CDKeys, but would like to play Eowiel this weekend.

Find your NWN2 CD key text file on your laptop. Back up the set of CD keys in it and then copy-paste the keys you already use in the file.

If you only use one account, you can have the same set of CD keys on two different computers.
