Congratulations to our new HDM, Dialectic! He is taking over from me in the admin spot (I will be taking a break from DMing). Some of you will know he is super active in processing player requests and the like, and now that energy is being set to offering a guiding hand to the DM team.

I've watched Dialectic grow as a DM over the course of his time on the team and he has truly developed admirable skills as a DM, being able to manage reactive, large scale plots. He has done this while remaining approachable and friendly in all his dealings and its been a pleasure to work with him.

For the meantime he will remain as Campaign Coordinator (if a busy one!) and so is a point of contact regarding the metaplot still.

I hope you all join me in wishing him all the best in his new position!

Thanks for your long, intensive, and honorable service to the community.

I deeply appreciate the huge number of things (and their quality and care) you have done for the server as a DM and Head DM and the utmost integrity that you always showed in doing so. I hope we continue to build upon the many initiatives and themes as a DM team that you helped push or initiate! There will be some massive shoes to fill and plenty of ongoing problems to deal with, but I am confident that we will be okay, in no small part to many of the systems, processes, respect for and knowledge of server and canon FR lore, and the team culture and ethical orientation that you were integral to building up -- and helped me to shape into what I hope is a better DM as well, as you did for multiple others. Thanks for being such a big part of improving the special cooperative RP and adventuring sanctuary that is BGTSCC. This place means a lot to me IRL, as does all you have done for it, sir. !S

HDM Golem had so many forum DM account posts for a reason and unlike my high post count, it was not mostly spam! He was a workhorse for the DM team getting many things done in many different areas. One of Golem's many great legacies on the team was his encouraging dynamic DMing that responds to player actions: player requests are a huge part of this as are how campaigns and metaplots develop. It's a constant work in progress, but we will continue to get better and better at this I believe with the great talent that we have on the DM team right now!

From what I could tell, DM Golem handled HDMing with a grace and efficiency that I can only envy. Things seemed to be in good hands with him. Thanks for doing it for so long.

Shakespeare, through Hamlet, once asked the world "whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles."

In your long career as a Head DM, I often admired you for choosing the slings and the arrows. You were patient, kind, and steadfast in even the most trying moments of your Head DM career, and you inspired your team as a result of it.

Your discipline was always very even-tempered and you were even-handed with all of your decisions, frequently stepping back when conflicts of interest or even the perceptions thereof would prevent you from making an unbiased decision.

In many ways, you were a "golem" in the folkloric sense that you were always there to protect the community and the players who enjoy it, even if it meant sometimes taking on very heavy burdens. Thank you for bearing those burdens so long. It'll be up to those who remain to share the weight you carried between them for however long you're gone.

It is our good luck that you've been lifting weights!

Through great and constant effort, you have proved yourself one of our best and one of our brightest. You've learned a great deal over time, and you've always shared a lot of the same values that Golem has valued as a Head DM. Particularly with your focus on ensuring that our players are responded to and that the world is as reactive to their needs and their plots as our little DM team can make it.

I will rest easier tonight knowing that you are here to take on the job, Dialectic (even if your name still brings back haunting memories of grad school). Congratulations, and good luck!
