I like magic and magic based classes as much as the next spell-caster, but my character build for one of them has become somewhat of an RP let down. I tried to make them do too many things and I've completely lost interest in RPing with him.
But I don't want to give up his class rights to Shadow Adept... i want to make another shadow adept, but instead of hate based, fear based. Hate made him feel annoying to play, and its just awkward explaining why he's acting that way to others.
So, if I kill off Trace (and rcr him), can I keep the shadow adept class and move it to another character?
I was planning on making a Wizard with a specialization of Abjuration, to ward off those who might harm him (out of fear), and he would be slowly drawn away from people until he finds hints of means to aid him and his fear. Which is when he would be introduced to the shadow weave and Shar.
I really like the concept of Shar and there's much RP potential I can do with it, but my current creation has been mixed with too many things to be fun anymore.

No. You would have to resubmit the application (and optionally the new character's background) if you wish to create a new Shadow Adept.

Re: Transfer of Class Rights question
Fear is more of a Bane thing, too. Shar is about secrets and quietly nursing feelings of envy and hate, and while fear can lead in that direction (paranoia), Shar is more about the hatred arising from that fear (hating the things that make you afraid) rather than the fear itself.
Is Shadow Adept really needed for such a character? You can still go that route without it, perhaps getting involved with the Banites and Zhentarim instead of Shar. Archmage and Blood Mage are superior for an abjurer anyway, as abjurer benefits most strongly from caster levels (making your mord's far more likely to strip people's buffs).

For the sake of clarity: If he was re-rolling Trace but it was going to be the same character with some minor changes he would not have to re-apply correct? The re-application is needed only because he is wishing to create an entirely new character, yes?

Correct. If it is the same character and the only thing that needed to be changed was the build, then he would not need to reapply.Boddynock wrote:For the sake of clarity: If he was re-rolling Trace but it was going to be the same character with some minor changes he would not have to re-apply correct? A new character concept, even if the build is identical, needs a new application.
