like most Dwarven societies, me clan makes and sell arms and armor. One day while traveling to MossStone to trade the clan goods, i came upon the ruin farmstead of the Luaren family. It appeared to be the work of tradeway bandits. Old man Luaren put up hell of a fight killing several Bandits, however.....(shudders) thier all dead ,even the babe of two months. One of the dead bandits lay nearby holding a sword, so i went to take a closer look.I when i saw the sword i went completely numb and me legs went weak in the knees. my vision narrowed.
Me memories are kind of fuzzy of what transpired after i found the dead bandit, however iwill try to put it down on paper....I believe i returned to Fire Rake Gorge (clan Hold) an vehemetly argue with King Greandal Grindstone about how we should stop trading our weapons at MossStone. The next thing i Remember is being back at the Luaren farmstead and talking with a monk of "The Holy Warriors of Suffering". His name was Brother Env and he said" ask thee if revenge is the path that you wish to walk or is it to fight injustice and suffering, to aide those incapable of helping thier own selves."
Before Brother Env left he gave me a slip of paper. " if you choose to follow the footsteps of the Crying lord, then read it "
It read:
Baldur's Gate
Shrine of Ilmater
Sister Merielle Williams

I think that i will do as Brother Env instructed, the more that i think about it , the more that i believe that Ilmater was working through Brother Env.

I vow to never use a bladed weapon ever again

With Ilmater's blessing i will try to track down evil creatures that are using me clan's goods for evil doing

I have just deboarded the " Wave Slicer" in west harbor disstrict in baldurs gate and made my way to the shrine of " Ilmater". I was in luck,Sister Merielle was there. I showed her the note that Brother Env gave me. I could tell that she reconegized the handwriting though to her credit she didnt ask me what brings me Baldurs gate. She just went into the back and returned with one of the biggest books i have ever seen. all she said was " read this" and then she smiled and walked away.

i have finished the "Tome of Ilmater" though i am having trouble retaining some of it so i have begun copying the book for me to take when i leave here. Sister Merielle has yet to ask me why i have come to The Gate ... i feel guilty for not offering to tell her.
