Dragonspear basement puzzle *spoilers*

Unread post by NegInfinity »

Honestly, I think the puzzle is broken.
The level above basement looks like it should have additional way down, but it ends in broken door, and there are two more broken doors there.

If you are talking about the lever lock door maze in the basement it is not broken. It works to get to the next level to the portal just fine........

They are also ways around using some levers ... not sure if they're intentional or not.

Hehe wasn't intentional, as I didn't know shadow step etc existed when I made the area, but hey, I'm ok with it. That said,

the lever puzzle does work, it just generally requires two+ party members.

Lock dcs are at least 20 points above what my sneak can reliably open at the moment. Of course, it is possible that I'm missing a huge pile of +openlock gear, skill focus feats and a personal bard-cheerleader for extra inspiration...

I believe the lock is set at 50 which is not that high. There is a lock with a open at 85 too but not sure which one. Either way the dungeon is not meant to be solo'd and or done by one build only. That and it gives real reason to go fetch a lock pick now. SInce everybody and their mother gets pick lock for the XP it gives since this server takes your life to level up.

It is 80 on every door, not 50. My character can open 50.

The funny thing is I also remember someone saying in separate thread that DC50 is equivalent to opening a wall. That was in discussion related to lore split, I believe.

Again it is not supposed to be easy. I think you just need to accept it. It is not going to change and there is another way around that is easy as pie. Figure it out. Or get on with Kory and he will show you. ;)

Took me and another player roughly 45 minutes to figure it out. Flipping levers and checking doors. Was fun RP. Very engaging. Once we figured it out it was no problem and to the hells we went.

You misunderstand something. I'm not asking for anything.

I think I know how it is supposed to be working, but the thing is the puzzle could at least use some clearer indication regarding levers that AREN'T working.

"You hear a distant click". Alright, from which direction did I hear the click? Above? Below? North/South/West?

The one portcullis that opens rightaway has some oddly variable delay between the moment you activate the lever and the moment it opens. One of the doors is destructible, by the way, which is probably unintended. The L shaped corridor near the lever area ends in a wall that is a door, and it is unclear whether it is actually a hidden door, or it is a bug where you can target a door from another room. Aaand the fake levers don't actually play "pull" animation, so you end up wondering whether it works as intended and there's more to it, or the damn thing is glitched.

If it is supposed to be a puzzle, I think the area could use more love and add a way to use your skills, like it was done with pirate quest. Right now it is sorta dry, randomly placed and makes people wonder if it is broken or not.

And that is the puzzle. You are not exploring every possibility.

Have you watched me explore the dungeon in order to say this, hmm?

All I'm saying that this one could use a bit of improvement.

Do you have a second person with you? If so you are not exploring every possibility. It really is not that hard and at this point I do not think you want to be told what to do, so figure it out. It is no harder than many RPG puzzles for games from the 90s. In fact I believe Beyond the Beyond had a harder test of puzzles than this one. I will admit it can be frustrating but once you look at it from outside the box of the place you are in then it is easy. We always expect the answer to be on the same area we are in. When sometimes you have to go backwards to move forwards..............
