Since Summon Baatezu is homebrewed anyway, it could make sense to tweak it a bit.
Basically, it would be nice if instead of playing russian roulette, like usual, Hellfire Warlock could call a specific summon, as long as summon's level is lower than warloccks total character level.
That's because default available summons, are, frankly, underwhelming and very weak compared to bgtscc power level. A lot of them have very bad equipment too. Mephasm, for example, can only punch stuff and cast few healing spells and that's pretty much it.

Re: Hellfire Warlock: Summon baatezu
Having variety is nice and all, but is there actually any reason to even use most of them? I can't even think of an RP reason right now. If you're a warlock who wants to summon something from the lower planes why try for something weak? My guess is everyone would be going for the same one...
If possible I'd say we should attach it to the same mechanic that lets people casting summon monster spells choose their summon, then buff up the weaker hellfire summons to match the strongest one. Maybe add in per level scaling or something so it isn't a single power spike.

PrC summons have to be redone manually, the script was causing issues with them
but yea most all PrC summons need to be redone for the content shift

Can we make it so that when you use "summon baatezu" while on the avenus map, nothing happens. But after a minute or so... a devil comes running over exhausted going "what?! Your down here now? Seriously dude. This ain't fun without the free ride included"

Weaker and humanoid devils can act like independent characters and even emote.Side wrote:Having variety is nice and all, but is there actually any reason to even use most of them? I can't even think of an RP reason right now.
You can go invisible and use a devil to talk on your behalf, for example. (Tried that once. Lessons learned: 1. Clerics have blindsight. 2. Some devils are squitshy. 3. Warlocks can run faster than clericcs.) You can have a chat with it. You can also summon it and let DM take over it if you want something from hells. There are a lot of opportunities here, and frankly you just need to play a thaumaturge once to get the idea of what can be done.
Speaking of which.
I think Eclypticon suggested of making warlock thaumaturge PrC.... in the end I think hellfire warlock could be adjusted to fill this role, while being restricted to baatezu.
That is, unless it is possible to code in original hellfire warlock abilities instead. "Summon Baatezu" is obsidian's homebrewed invention, after all.
Can be done if you select "Random" summon.Akroma666 wrote:But what about infernal chicken random summon for funzies?
I haven't seen this summon for a long time now.
I usually get mephasm (outsider cleric with no weapon and no equipment), hezebel (outsider erinyes sorccerer), nurngnorog and occasionally neeshka (rogue with no equipment and no weapons).
A lot of summons have poor equipment (or no equipment), have less than 10 levels in their casting class and die very quickly.
