Question: RCR and inventory
I need to RCR a character of mine (made a couple of mistakes) and level him again.
Important: I will use the same name for the new "version".
Since the server is so kaboom-prone these days, I don't trust the muling process through campfires. Also, I am returning after one year of absence, so I don't have "friends" I can entrust with my stuff.
At last, the question: is there a way to store my belongings (at a vendor for instance), delete my character, recreate it using the same name and retrieve my stuff with my new character?

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
I noticed a new storage located in the FAI...not sure if it's account based or PC based storage.
I believe the storage is found if you talk to the bartender. Never tested it myself so i'm skeptical on leaving stuff in it.
I could mule for you if you need.
IF the server ever gets back up

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
Thanks for the offer
Problem is I would have to delete it, wait for the next server reset and recreate it. Due to work-related issues I might not be able to schedule my "attendancy". That's why I need a system that doesn't rely on meeting with others at a fixed time.
I do appreciate your offer all the same

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
You do not need to wait for a Server reset to recreate a toon with the same name.
And the permanent storage now available on BGTSCC is PC name based.

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
I would probably wait for a more stable time before attempting any sort of rcr though. Risky to chance losing everything to an inopportune crash.

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
Also, be careful with "same name" characters.
You'll want to RCR the old character before you recreate the new character to prevent the server from freaking out when it thinks you have two characters with the same exact name. (The new one sometimes overwrites the old one or vice-versa).
If you want to create the new character before RCRing the old character, name him something slightly different. Like if your old character is "John Smith" named the replacement "John Smithe." Then have a DM change it to "John Smith" after the original John Smith has been RCR deleted.

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
It is possible to create character with the same name, immediately after rcring the old one, but the good idea is to wait for the reboot. Otherwise all kind of funny things can happen. For exxample, last known location (assuming a miracle happens and it starts working) is tied to character name, so you'll login onto the same spot where the old character was. Then there's matter of language selection.Maecius wrote:Also, be careful with "same name" characters.

Also, if there two characters with exact the same name, one of them will hide another and it won't be selectable from roster on login. So, if you have one "Bob Ironbeard" in your inventory and make a new one, the old one will be hidden until you delete the new one.

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
First of all, thanks a lot for your replies.
Let me see if I got it right:
1) Store all belongings with original character
2) Create new character with slightly different name
3) RCR original character
4) Wait for server reset
5) Have new character's name changed by a DM to match the old one
6) Retrieve all the stuff
Right?

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
As you can't store coin, you still need to thrust somebody with that.
1) Store all belongings with original character - mule coins to someone.
2) RCR original character
3) Wait for server reset
4) Create new character with the same name
5) Retrieve all the stuff

Either of these methods should work fine.Theodore01 wrote:As you can't store coin, you still need to thrust somebody with that.

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
As to the money, there is a third way I used once before.
Have a mule character of yours auction a potion of cure light wounds (or any other cheap item) for 11000 gold, have the character you want to transfer the money from buy it.
Not really cost effective but useful as last resort.

Re: Question: RCR and inventory
I talked to people in Nexus and do not need to wait for reset to rcr with same name -
so, put your stuff into storage then rcr your character- make sure you transfer your gold :3

Honestly, the people on the server are pretty trustworthy. Thus if you see people in the Nexus, it does no harm to ask if they can help you with RCR and muling things over. If you are paranoid, and even if you are not, it doesn't do anyharm to just spam the print screen button just in case.

A bit of thread necromancy...
I'm not sure you're aware Convolutedline, that you've been replying to some old threads.
