Quicken or Empower?

Unread post by RamenKing »

Hello everyone,

Currently playing an auto still abjurer gish. I am considering taking Quicken or Empower Spell. Choosing either one for mantle use due to the Abjuration RP. But not sure which would go farther for others spells for a auto still gish. After reading the NWN2 wiki on both, Empowered Mantle's are quite beneficial but a Quickened Lesser Mantle could help in that split second I need it in a mage duel. So Quicken or Empower? Which would I get more bang for my buck?

If that's all (one single spell), then they're both worthless.

I would buy a wand of mantles.

If there's more, then one or the other might become more relevant (and when you don't attack with your spells, that's usually Quicken).

Thank you Aelcar.

Youre the third person that has told me about the mantle wand. But when I tried to craft it it doesnt allow me to since the lowest mantle is a level 5 spell.

Am I missing something? Or is it a dropped item?

You're missing something :).

Lesser Spell Mantle (5th Circle) is not the lowest mantle in the game.

Fortunately, Least Spell Mantle is (4th Circle, so that wands can be crafted), making defense against magic trivial.

If that weren't the case, very powerful disables and no save spells in general would be too strong, with only SR (limited accessibility) or HiPS (even more limited accessibility...) as reliable forms of mitigation.

This way, anyone can defend against all relevant magical attacks as long as they have one of these wands and UMD + CHA bonus = 10+. Thus, basically everyone.

Learning things and exploring the depths of your character's powers is half of the fun :).

You're very welcome. Have fun, and if you need anything, shoot me a PM.
