Conept: Shapeshifted Monk, thoughts?

Unread post by Nachti »

Monk that uses two rings of Changing.

Current Build:
Base Race: Duergar
Class: 11 Monk/3 Fist of the Forest/16 Fighter

Image
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gear used on Jegs:
+4 Natural
+4 Armor
+4 Dodge
+4 Deflection
+4 AB 1d4 Gloves
no wisdom item
Epic Prowess and Armor skin taken
A total of +9 Wisdom Mod
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BAB: 27
Attacks: (with Flurry, 7 Attacks) 47/47/47/37/32/27/22
AB: 27+15-1 (Enlarge Person)+1 (Epic Prowess) +2 (Mastery) +4 (Focus) -1 (Size) = 47
AC: 46

Dmg: 2d10+14+3 (Enlarge Person)+2 (Bludgeoning Damage) +1d4 (FoF dmg)
Dmg: average 32,5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Discoveries:
- Fist of the Forest 1d4 does work.
- Unarmed Mastery, Epic Weapon Focus do work well.

- Fist of the Forest AC does not work while it.
- Unarmed Weapon Spec (+6 dmg) does not work (Bug?).

- While I have 47 AB on the screen, the actual AB during combat was 43. Propably the AB from Focus (Unarmed) and Mastery feat does not apply on JEGs. On live? No idea.
- Fist of the Forests +1d4 bludgeoning dmg and +2 bludgeonig dmg from mastery might not stack, due being the same damage source.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Result:

Propably not a good idea to take FoF. If the Focus feats do not work, 4 Fighter could be enough.

So, 11 Monk / 4 Fighter / Something else.

Rings of Changing exist on BGTSCC?

and what is the CL on that. if not would you think the CL on a wand would be good enough. scrolls at a high CL would be quite expensive and carry a high cost for UMD.

edit for another thought: maybe a monk/lock build that utilizes the demon form and hideous blow.

Yes, they exists on bgtscc. Although pretty rare.

The CL is locked to 17 and since items on bgtscc dont have a level req it can be used on level 1 by anyone.

So 17 min of fun.

Warlock/Monk?

but 11 Monk / 19 Warlock?

CL = 19+4 = 23 = 10d6 blast + Epic Feats
BAB = 22

Just warlocks already have word of changing so ring istn required.

right.. the lock would be if the cl was too low and/or there were no rings on server. kinda a way to get the same thing with maybe better results.

not only are the dispells higher but the mobs seem to want to cast it sooner and more. sounds like a big investment to find that out at level 25. but you should be alright up to level 24 with mob selection. 17 is pretty good cl really.

CL 17 is useless after lvl 17. Any higher CR area and dispels will eat your entire concept.

But the build idea sounds fun.

There is no guttural invocations so you can't use any warlock invocations while shifted

It will, since its a feat.

Any dmg buff has to be applied to the character itself, to work with shapechange. Warrior of Darkness Oil? Doesnt sound like it would work that way.

I think following works:

1d4 bludgeoning (Fist of the Forest)
1d4 elemental (Dragon Warrior)
2 bludgeoning (Unarmed Mastery, but not stacking)
3 magic (Enlarge Person cast before)

And these wont:
Insightful Strike (Natural weapons cannot be finessed, so shouldnt work)
Precise Strike (Natural weapons deal no piercing damage. Wont work)
Power Attack (worthless with 1h weapons such as natural weapons)

All regeneration will apply in shifted form yes. . . i have tested it myself so effectively you could have +5 regen from horn devil +10 from regeneration +1 from regen cloak +6 from fast healing +5 from fiendish resilience and another +10 if you somehow figure out a clever way to fit epic fiendish resilience in there.

So 37 healing per round if with all feats active.
Royalty? No it was simply an Election.
