Re: 1500GP
I would agree, with the epic shop gold menas more, and selling an epic item means a lot less. Perhaps making us able to sell for higher would make it a little more interesting.

Re: 1500GP
It would be beat if the appraise skill bonus would let you collect over the 1200 limit. So if your appraise was scoring you an extra 200gp on that pretty pricey item you would get the 1200 plus the appraise bonus.
It's a skill that is nerfed because of the gold cap. Be nice to see that fixed and the abuse if any is far less then just camping the frost giant king for 5k every (10 min?).

Re: 1500GP
Limit is 1350, and appraise allows you to sell low level items for more gold (such as all the +1 items) which happens a lot. For the rest there is always the auction house.

Re: 1500GP
Limit is 1350 in one location? Not all locations as of a few days ago.
If you want to say the limit is 1350 then make it so for all areas.
Further yes appraise helps with the items value below 1200 but does not change the fact the skill is nerfed by the gold cap. No matter how the words are colored it does not change the statement.

Re: 1500GP
The only way I think this should be supported is under a daily limit per NPC of their total payout for items exceeding and the item being persistently available to the store it was sold to. Otherwise this is inviting a considerable inflation that would cheapen the virtual economy even more.

Re: 1500GP
No, not all locations, only one actually I think. As for appraise nerfed or not it's still very useful anyway, gold being extremely easy to get I don't personally see any change coming.

After all the hard desicions that had to be made and the countless discussions we had, changes such as this and others, invalidate any progress that was made and in practice put us back to the position we were before, where gold had no value.Aspect of Sorrow wrote:The only way I think this should be supported is under a daily limit per NPC of their total payout for items exceeding and the item being persistently available to the store it was sold to. The limits need to be maintained, at least for now. We can look into it when more gold sinks and other solutions can be implemented.
As far as the appraise being nerfed, it is still one of the must have skills for my grinding characters and a skill that you can raise easely - meaning with minimal investement. With no points spent on appraise and without raising the relevant ability, one can "max" appraise just by equipping items and casting spells when at a vendor.
So the investment and what you get from appraise make it far from nerfed. On the contrary, it is very powerful.

It is not in the elven village. If I remember correctly, the merchant there has a maximum of 1000gpLockonnow wrote:there one more location that give 1300gp that is in the candlekeep i dont know in the elfs village or in teh dwarf stronghold yet guild

Re: 1500GP
It wouldn't be immersion breaking (to the ones who are hung up on currency and without a DM ruling can't see anything but NWN gold as being the same as PnP gold) if this was done.
New DM Ruling!
1 NWN gold coin = 1 PnP Copper Coin for how currency is seen.
Though, of course, most of us understand that the two currencies are not the same. Obsidian chose to call them gold coins, but, that doesn't mean they mean the exact same thing as PnP gold coins for the purpose of IG conversion. The ruling above would be for the sake of the people who are hung up on the word "gold", but, it would just be a few words to ease their collective minds. Just as with anything else, this isn't PnP.
As far as carrying it:
A) We also haul plenty of weapons, armor, and gems. We can either RP having a magic bag (in which we carry coin) or actively use the storage system (more for items and low STR characters). Either works for RP's sake.
B) Gold can represent multiple things. For example, it represents components for a teleport spell, or any other spell that does require gold. It doesn't just mean "coin", it means all the other assets that can be turned into gold but aren't represented with straight up items.
C) We can keep gold in storage, and RP carrying an amount of it at a time, depending on what our character is doing.
With a bit of imagination and thought, its not all that immersion breaking of a system.
Anyway, with that out of the way. . .
I do think that certain merchants should buy for certain amount of gold, for immersion's sake. The merchants in the higher class areas of BG would buy more than merchants in the lower end areas. However, at the same time, it doesn't achieve much in practice other than causing people to (ward up with haste if they can and) sprint to the best merchant. Its a nice thought, but it doesn't actually do much for RP.

Re: 1500GP
No reducing it... leave it as it is if you want but no reductions, its bad enough as it is. There is absolutely no reason why i should have to pay 50000 gp for an epic item and then only be able to sell it for 1300. If the economy is going to be that rigged then i may as well stop utilizing it and drop everything i find in the trash regardless of its value or demand rather then feed a system that is designed purely to spite those who want to sell stuff for its actual value.

Re: 1500GP
They are overpriced because of one issue. The broken economy system of an online PW. 6 months ago players were complainig that gold had no value. Today that is not the case.chambordini wrote:in my opinion all these new stores are extremely overpriced. It's also just saddening and awful to me watching these immense amounts of coin going around and players roleplaying about bags.
Today they are complaining that items are too expensive. Damned if you do, damned if you dont...

Re: 1500GP
Except one was a legitimate complain. That being, gold did have no meaning. Now, it does, and it will continue to have value for some time. Then, if/when it loses value (which will be a long time! Since everyone needs to pimp out their current and future characters.) another epic merchant can be implemented. But, that'll be months, if not years until its truely needed I think.
The items aren't overpriced. They are currently in that sweet good spot.

Exactly. And it wast just that. The limited availability of Epic items was another thing players complained about.metaquad4 wrote:Except one was a legitimate complain. That being, gold did have no meaning.
The avernus shop on its own helped to remedy both issues. Infinite thanks to tfunke, whose work is under-apreciated by many. Appreciation for not only implementing the shop, but taking QCs advice as well, which meant many hours of rework. A perfect example of cooperation at the highest level.
