Spellcasting (Paladin, Ranger, Blackguard)
Do you require 14 Base Wisdom to cast level 4 spells?
Or do items help with it?
Have blackguards a spellbook yet? I remember during the removed spelloverhaul from rasael they got one.
Does Spellcasting Prodigy help with reaching level 4 spells?

Re: Spellcasting (Paladin, Ranger, Blackguard)
Having asked most of these questions before, I think I can answer rather than ask, for once:
1) Depends on which class.
2) Items help with most, but not with Blackguard (and Assassin) spellbooks (basically, the BGTSCC custom-made ones).
3) Yes.
4) No.

To clarify, BG and assassin spell casting is similar to sorcerer or favored soul. Basically they get 3 or 4 spells known for each level and can cast them a certain number of times per day.
I think there was an assassin spell book (a true on with memorization and a more robust list), but it required spell changes that didn't get in.

Ok, so blackguard/assa casting is currently like in vanilla, where you get a feat that lets you select the spell.

Not like vanilla since vanilla gives you a use per day feat with one spell like ability. The server is different in that you get a feat for "assassin level x spells" (forget the actual feat name). You put that in your hot bar and clicking it brings up a menu where you can select which spell to cast. You get this a number of times per day dependent on class level.Nachti wrote:Ok, so blackguard/assa casting is currently like in vanilla, where you get a feat that lets you select the spell.

Think Kaedrins with some added goodies, rather than OC.

Re: Spellcasting (Paladin, Ranger, Blackguard)
Intelligence for assassins and wisdom for blackguards do add to your number of spells per day as you would expect but only uses your BASE int or wis. Items do not help for this. For instance, an assassin with 20 natural int will get 2 additional 1sts, and 1 additional 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
One of the biggest issues with blackguard and assassin spells is that they get dispelled if someone sneezes too hard around you. Basically, a lesser dispel is enough to take out most lvl 10 assassin buffs. Unless you have practiced spell caster which makes lesser dispel harder to take but doesn't really help with a regular or greater dispel.

Re: Spellcasting (Paladin, Ranger, Blackguard)
Not worth playing a Blackguard in this server as they only get 10 levels, which doesn't help their spellcasting. Casting spells on a class that is the dark mirror of a paladin is a no go since a black guard get 17 levels less than a paladin and less of the bonus per level for their spells. Not to mention with very few means to EDM, a black guard is useless. You're better off going full cleric.

Yes, free martial feat, CHA to saves, 1-2 SA and 1-2 extra BAB really make any melee cleric build suck. For the price of a practised caster feat to reach cl30 or higher depending on dip and other classes.
Pure cleric is much better somehow.

Sneak requires 4 levels. If you want a chance at EDM and higher saves get 3 to 4 levels of Paladin that also comes with a free immunity to fear.Storm Munin wrote:Yes, free martial feat, CHA to saves, 1-2 SA and 1-2 extra BAB really make any melee cleric build suck. This build gets a high 27 to 28 BAB, 27 Reflex/34 Will save/40 Fort saves without items and just buffs. It also gets spot and tumble skills.

A pure cleric can get roughly the same thing minus BAB and skills. Now unless you plan to play an EDM build or a high turn build to make use of the charisma bonus, more than 3 of levels BG or 4 levels of Pally is a waste. 10 levels of BG is ultra garbage since they have a caster level cap of 10, thus making spellcasting with them pointless. They have the same spells as evil cleric and an evil cleric can summon undead.
To play a true Blackguard or something that resembles a champion of divine hatred and evil, you can't do it on this server since Hexblade was not implemented and Warrior of Darkness got gutted. You can play a character with an evil alignment, but there are very few outlet's to play a character that pure embodiment of evil blessed by the gods of evil sans playing a cleric.
