Hahah I´m dead again

Unread post by pulvasur »

I´ve been trying to adventure a little... and I´ve died twenty times now. I spend far more time traveling from the Fugue to the farms, and then to the first bandits down south than I do trying to gain XP. Which then goes away as a brown bear ends my current incarnation, again.

It´s all terribly fun and I´m having a blast experiencing how as a game, NWN2 has been taken to such levels of nuance and complexity by you guys.

I´d also love not to die so much. It´s pointless to complain, but I need a solution... I might want to stop trying to kill bandits, and turn to more helpless beings, like dogs.

I´m sure I can find the right location on the internet, however I thought, why not ask around in the forums?

Also: for some reason my torch refuses to light up autonomously and with no spark or combustible substance to help simulate real torches. I´m sure there´s a reason for this.

Cheers!

As far as where to fight. Try the graveyard just past the Roadside merchant. Also can head up toward the bridge but instead if going over it hang a left and go to the next zone not sure what it is called there you will find some wolves and bandits

Have fun and keep yourself alive for goodness sakes :D

Graveyard has really slow enemy's, so you can safely kite them untill you get a higher lvl.
Did you manage to get some basic gear? Else let me know what class you are so we can get you some better gear to get you through those first rough lvls.
All you need is a bit of extra AC, seeing the lower lvl enemy's do nothing more than simply try to hit you.

I would recommend doing a few newb quests to start with, if you need help with what NPCs you need to talk to let me know and i'll try and write up a quick guide for you.

In regards to the torch, I believe they are all broken and don't work in game (as far as I know)

Thank you all. I shall try the graveyard. I shall first find a map, then find the graveyard on that map, and then go there -- I cannot keep cluelessly running around so much.

I also must confess I´d love to have a little guide like, trogers -- the perspective of exploring such a vast area searching for the right quests is a little too much too.

Can´t wait to hit lvl.8, I believe it should be funnier once I get there.

Guess you just found your first quest objective!
9/10 times there are people hanging out in either Baldur's Gate or Eastern Farmlands.

Goal: Convince the first person you meet to guide you along.

Reward: A rp contact for later on + roleplay and combat experience points + free knowledge about the world you are surviving in.

No worries, I'll write something up for you tomorrow. And don't worry too much about speed leveling -- take your time and enjoy the RP, this isn't an MMO, if you are struggling to find people to RP with send me a PM I have several low level alts I can switch to.

Send me a tell IG if you see me playing Erlendir in the Player Scry. I'm pretty new as well but I'm trying to play a classic ranger-type so I've done quite a lot of exploring and it's good for my RP to be a guide to travellers in need. ;) I'm level 12 atm so partying shouldn't be a problem.

Sweet! As soon as I get a reply on my other thread regarding my character´s face model, I should be able to. I don´t know where the player scry is though, let me check.. no, can´t find it.

Bar on the top right of the screen :) it has various handy things like player scry, pvp settings and voice command so you can use your languages.

Writing out a quick guide as I promised for quests

Farmer Todd - Quest in the BG Farmlands East (starting area) he can be found in the top corner of the map, he will ask you to help him fill the scarecrows with straw, in the field not far to the left of him. He is by the barn near the cornfield.

Jeanna Of Ilmater - Head into the city through the east gate (from the farmlands) and to your right will be an NPC who will give you a quest to pick some berries. You will have to head to the docks (I believe) in order to catch a boat to the island she asks you to go to.

Malts - Still inside the East District head to the 'Malts' shop on the map and talk to the NPC to begin a delivery quest.

Otto Goldstein - While inside the East district head to the Torrgeir Mining Co and talk to the NPC for a quest to get back some ore -- this quest rewards 750 exp -- but it fairly difficult to do solo. You have to head to the cloakwoods - to get there you have to head to the Friendly Arms Inn then head north, the cave in on the far end of the map which will lead you into the mines. The level you need I believe is level 2 for the ore.

Lady Adora - Now head to the Palice District and just behind the 'Shelf Of Many Books' you will find the NPC lady Adora who tasks you with finding her bracelett. The boy who stole it can be found in the docks, he is tricky to find but keep running around the dock area and he will pop up.

Elad Of The Merchant League - Now head into the Merchant Leage building (by the east gate on the map in the docks district) and talk to the NPC at the desk for a contract, you will then have to head through the north gate to a cave on the top end of the map and click on barrals and chests to get back stolen gear, 6 in total - once you do return to the NPC for a exp / gold reward.

Stewart Hipp - Now head to the docks (where the ships are) and talk to Stewart Hipp who tasks you with delivering a package.

Captain Calico Flint - Can be found near the Minstriel Muse in the docks distrct, not far from Stewart Hipp - he tasks you with finding his men; which can be found inside the Inns; the first 2 men can be found in the docks Inn the blushing mermaid

Sergant Schmidt - now head to the The Lords Alliance near the blushing mermaid in the docks distrct and talk to the NPC outside for a short delivery quest.

There are several other quests dotted around which I can't remember off the top of my head, but at your level the best exp comes from quests / grinding.

Some advice on leveling
- Some of these quests reset over time
- From 1 / 6 zombies in the graveyard are the best form of grinding EXP (just remember to use a blunt weapon on them)
- From 7 / 10 I'd recommend the the ruins across the bridge leading (hilltop Ruins) towards Friendly Arms
- 11 / 13 The cloakwood mines; but this can be tricky (depending on build) to solo thus it is always a good idea to form up a group
- DM events are also a good way to get exp, when I came back to the server a few years ago they were as rare as a church mouse, now with the new team DM events are fairly common if you keep an eye out you might be able to take part in a few.
- Don't feel pressured to level up quickly; its all about having fun and enjoying yourself - trying to treat the server like a MMO will quickly drain you. The most fun can be had getting your character known with all the locals.

If you happen to catch me in game, feel free to send me a PM i'm always happy to help out.

It's a bit outdated as it doesn't include newer quests like from Soubar, but it has the majority.
