Low level areas deserted...
For the last week i was visiting the low level areas of the server and they are empty, no player characters present. When i was last time playing the server i've always met people there.
Currently:
- i've met 1 person in the graveyard (no one in graveyard cave)
- i've met 1 person in hilltop ruins
- didnt meet anyone in north of FAI area
- didnt meet anyone in BG sewers
- didnt meet anyone in Bandit Cave area
- didnt meet anyone in Along the Chiontar area
- didnt meet anyone in the gibberling cave chain of areas
- didnt meet any group of low level players anywhere they should be present
Did the player base mature that much that everybody has only higher level characters?
Or maybe we are not getting any new fresh players?

Re: Low level areas deserted...
We are getting plenty of fresh players (around 4 - 8 a week is my best guess) however most of these players do not last the week.
One of these reasons is because they simple don't like RP, they will try the server for a few days and move on as it is not what they are looking for -- while some people will try RP and realize it is not for them and move on.
It is the people who come here wanting to get involved that struggle which worry me, several people I have spoken to (new players) feel that they are unable to settle in / find their place, which is why the thread was started for new players (some good ideas in there)
What you also have to remember is a lot of our player base is made up of old and returning players, which are already in their mid 20s or 30s.

I'm going to be sour and say I think it is because the Server pushes an agenda to be lvl30asfadtashumanlypossible.
I am going to be sweet and say I think it is because more Players are "role-playing," in ways that do not require adventuring/killing mobs.

Re: Low level areas deserted...
That's happens in all areas. (except xvarts
)
How many areas does the server have overall ?
75 players split in Surface/UD
Now if you're playing in a time with only 20 players on..............

Ad1. Steve on you sour version, this has not changed since i was playing here some time ago.. and it will never change, back then we had DM's that tried to organize things for new low levels but majority of stuff is made for higher tier characters - i think its htis way as players well want to lvl up their characters and then play with them, leveling up is just a proces that needs to end
Ad.2 Stevo for your sweet version, it covers the first part of my answer above, this has not changed since i was playing here some time ago... and it will never change... some people lvl up their character in non combat fashion, some are happy after it has leveld up and they prefer to socialize rather then to do more combat...
Ad.3 LOBO - the server has grown a lot bigger, more areas, people more scattered, less people, less RP, less fun... when you add to this that our players are scattered through all time zones you get groups... groups of players that hang out together and i dont blame them, if you are from USA there is a lot of chances that you play with other Americans, and you develop a guild of f.ex. paladins and a new guy from europe can join you, but he will always struggle to be really a part of the guild due to time zone differences. I think we should consider adding some usefull information about that in the guilds and other places that encourage to play together...

Aging player base, ease of levelling and item level restrictions gone. Makes low level toons able to fight a little above the CR areas they normally would. Low level areas don't stay busy for long.

Re: Low level areas deserted...
Hey Diz, last night I had my lvl 5 toon Caed hanging around the Farmlands campfire for about an hour, RPing with other lowbies. Had I not had to go back to work, I'm sure we would have gone to adventure into e of those areas you mentioned.
We're in the same time zone, so look up this lowbie group, if you like—it's been many years now since you and I had regular character interaction, and I'd welcome it!

Re: Low level areas deserted...
This is why we are introducing the new low level zone! Much more excitement and detail added, so to introduce a more social interest from various level-ranges.

As you can tell, it's a well appreciated turnout!

Well i love the rebuilt Graveyard and the Along the Chiontar with the dungeon with 50DC locks *shakes fist* and the spawn rate North of FAI with the Bandits and Bears is awesome, the goblin raiding party also was not expected out there. Everything was super fun.

Those 50DC locks have a puzzle to figure out, Diz. One can even do it solo!dzidek1983 wrote:Well i love the rebuilt Graveyard and the Along the Chiontar with the dungeon with 50DC locks *shakes fist* and the spawn rate North of FAI with the Bandits and Bears is awesome, the goblin raiding party also was not expected out there. Re: Low level areas deserted...
Is the problem not that most lowbies never get to see the main rp hubs like FAI/Candlekeep as to get there you need a small bit of level on you, especially if new to game?
Seems the solution is having low level stuff around the main rp hubs to encourage new people to meet some of the older ones, who can speak with them, rp with them, even help with quests and such to get them to a higher level where they can take on more challenges/feel progression?

Re: Low level areas deserted...
Those places were switched to focus peoples interest more on the actuall City.
Earlier everything took place at the FAI campfire.
