Light Blindness / UD chars
Looking for some advice here.
When my drow was roaming on the surface, he was constantly blinded in the daylight judging by the text in the combat log and the icon effect 'Blinded'. It looked like there was a check made every few mins which I always failed automatically.
But is this blindness actual blindness? Or is it just giving some negatives to saves and whatever else it was?
I know it can be negated by the Daylight Adaptation feat but I'd like to know how it works and how I should RP it.

it is actual blindness, everything will fade out when it happens but dont remember if there are penalties or if the normal -1 to everything is still there on top of it

There's no fade out on my screen (and I don't think there has ever been with Blindness?).
If it's actual blindness then that's fine, just good to know in order to RP correctly.

not sure if something changed recently then but yea, when it happened to me last (a while ago) and with normal blindness effects, other players and NPCs etc will fade out as if they have improved invis on and it stops you from attacking
so its very annoying if you are in the middle of a fight

Re: Light Blindness / UD chars
the daylight blindness is actual blindness. you were only on the surface for a short time, so you may not have had the opponents actually disappear and you can no longer attack the now invisible creatures. but this does and will happen. i measure it to happen about 30% of the time while being blinded. i play surface orcs and know the deadliness of this hindrance first hand.
RP.. i would rate this to be like when you are driving and the sun is directly in front of you. there is not escaping the brightness and in certain circumstances seeing is impossible.
if you have ever played outfield in baseball and the ball flies directly into the sun. you cannot track the ball at all and there is nothing you can do to see the ball again.

Ahhh... I do recall this now.
Every time I did get the notice in the Combatlog, every character would be semi-transparant for a few seconds. But this was ONLY a few seconds. My character would remain Blinded (icon) but everyone would be fully visible after these seconds.
Is that working as intended then? ^

when the mob becomes transparent as well as allies, i move the mob to a shaded area. i am not sure the game is this smart or not, but more times than not the mob becomes visible again and i can attack(w/ penalties). maybe you were in a shadowy area and the game actually is this smart. i dont know. im not a technician or builder with any sort of script knowledge.

Blindsight should help you get rid of the penalties

well i have no idea what triggers the total blindness then. that was my best guess. maybe its just random dice roll. i think the daytime nighttime clock triggers the daylight penalty a few minutes after the game transitions my penalty transitions as well.

Had Blindsight up most of the time. Still had negatives to Saves and some other things, and the Blindness icon.ctothep wrote:Blindsight should help you get rid of the penalties
If Blindsight does anything it may just enable the semi-transparancy/'invis' of others for just half a round... but I don't think that's what it does here and that it always flickers for that short time. I can't test it though.
I had to pick the Daylight adaptation feat earlier in lvls than I wanted for build reasons so I'll just RP the penalties until it makes proper sense for adjustment.

Daylight adaptation feat gets rid of the penalties. If you have it you won't get these events anymore.

Thank you, Rasael. I was aware of that but trying to figure out how it works without it, and how it should be RPed.
Why is there that half a round of character's fading anyway? Is it all working as intended?
