Favoritism...

Unread post by ShadowX152 »

Ok...I haven't played @bgtscc for a while but I logged in early this morning after work when less than 10 people were active on the server. I stumbled upon an overt DM roleplaying with a couple other players & assumed it was a normal rp event(Kool!). I quickly found out that I was not invited to this exclusive roleplay where said character (Sirion Te'Dwa) (whom was similar level to my own character at the time) was directly teleported to Uldoon's trail and then to an exclusive DM area after gaining an immense amount of XP that would have taken me month's to achieve on my own. There is no backstory on the forums, nothing posted about a specific event from DM Soulcatcher involving this specific character; So I cannot help but to have a bad taste in my mouth after observing this.

Let me reemphasize that I haven't played in a while & am quite out of the loop as far as world rp goes so if this is legit let it be known and that will be the end of it. However, if people are being powerleveled now by DMs on BGTSCC where I have spent countless hours of misery grueling over 10 xp per kill only to die and lose twice the time I had invested over the course of that entire day then I want Justice!

It was probably for an event that's been going on for a while or a player request.

As for Sirion's current level, he plays almost daily and I've watched him grow slowly to where he's at now. There's no power leveling going on here.

1. DMs often do things with specific characters because those specific characters are involved in specific plots that have either resulted from Player Requests or DM-led story arcs.

2. If you genuinely have an issue, take it to the DMs instead of attempting to garner sympathy through public forum bashery.

Wow if this is suppose to be a joke it missed it's mark. If it's an honest favortism claim... i'd have to think the same. You say ten people online yet your scry shows 37. You don't show any of the RP leading up to you being left behind and you have no idea if the player even gained any experience. I suggest you do the proper thing next time and send a PM to the HDM group instead of airing this type of thing out on the forum.

That really sounds like something you should try resolve with people involved first - ask Sirion/DM what it is all about, explain your concerns. DMs often even ask if there is anything they can help with before they leave.

And yea - I can confirm Sirion was exping with my char lately in a natural fashion.
Some quest areas give nice xp so its very possible to get big spike in level quite fast.

Being left out? Yea it can happen - I've seen how people go for all possible quest events they can, and it seems normal to me that if some personal plot, some ongoing RP is happening or simply too many people try to get involved then DM-s should have the full right to exclude people that try to "get in" at all cost.

lol. The reason you were not invited is that it would make no IC sense at all. I'm not sure why your ability to metagame the backstory is important, but if you feel deprived of fun I can say that you did not miss out. As for XP and any reward you might imagine I would have had more hanging around the campfire. I got 500 xp after an hour or two of walk and talk, and paid some 4-5k gold on the way. My level was the same before and after the event, I merely had the level hidden on the scry list on one screenshot and not on the other.

We walked to Beregost with Bran and one other that joined in on the way, who were both left behind because that too made IC sense. They tried to scry but failed after a while due to a DC beaten. No teleporting straight anywhere until we went outside the normal map.

I did send you a tell to let you know I wouldn't mind including you but it made no sense ICly, which is very much true. So if this leaves a bad taste in your mouth all I can say is by all rights it should taste like whining.

To be fair, the count did linger around that lower number for a bit.

Player count hardly matters, of course. It's rude as eff to think you can just waltz up to any in progress event and just insert yourself with absolutely no lead in whatsoever. That's not RP, it's the server equivalent of ambulance chasing.

Wow I did not expect such an inflamed response from you all.

Let me put it this way, I have been playing on BGTSCC for years (on and off mind you) NEVER have I been whisked away by a DM to a DM only area. Granted additional experience or anything of the sort (Besides Extra Death). ESPECIALLY without an official request or backstory correlating to the forums & even in those special circumstances was said event exclusive to that player. Please guys, I have never had a DM appear overt and walk with me from town to town. It's obvious isnt it? Check out my friend the DM. I'm sure you were concerned for your life through that journey.

I know this indeed sounds "Whiny" but that is the nature of what is going on.

You might want to try requesting an event some time? Though I would not put stock into getting one after this type of rant throwing player and DM under the bus for your own benefit. Might catch more flies with honey and all.....

DM Soulcatcher is a very fair DM. Never awards anything that is not approved and agreed upon by the DM team.

If you are looking for DM event RP PM me with information to contact you IG with Koryeneer who has a job for those of certain skills currently.

If your intention was just to come and troll then I can not help you but I am willing to do some RP and invite you into a RP line I am following a bit.

You were welcome to. That you didn't is no one else's failing. You were not, however, going to be brought along either which way it went, because that simply would not have made any kind of sense IC. To engage in the conversation was entirely up to you.

Regardless of your feelings on it, to accuse DM of Favoritism is one of the worst accusations you can make. Doubly bad for posting it to the public. Take it to the Head DMs next time.
