Loot all macro

Unread post by Mork »

So since a long time I was struggling with looting containers when using extended client. Loot all button does not work well, and sometimes you're forced to click many times on a item before it gets finally looted which gets you frustrated.

NO MORE!

I introduce you to a macro in extended client that you can bind to a hotbar. Simply write:

Code: Select all

/setmacro 3 /lootall
To set "loot all" button in hotbar "3"
Now you can just click hotkey to loot all items in container. Trick made my NwN2 experience much less frustrating.

Shouldn't be using the "loot all" function anyways, as it sometimes bugs chests to stay open (and thus not reset the contents) and bugs remains bags to stay on the ground empty, which increases the strain on the server.

This happens regardless of the loot all button. I never use it and frequently break the chests and have to fix them.

It is the system lagging that causes it. NOT THE LOOT ALL BUTTON. Usually the person who is playing system. Not always the server itself. I have broken chests just looting the items normally one at a time. I have also left bags not using the loot all button as well.

In fact when I was running a Broadband internet service from Verizon I could use the loot all button finally and it never broke a chest. In fact with that service I would NEVER LAG EVER!!! I would laugh because I could load up in a DM area kill everything before the DM and everyone else even got out of the lag to see what was happening. I started waiting and just pretty much thinned herds out a bit to make it a bit less rough for players since I was along with my FvS and the DM would bring the heat with PBs around.

Is there a way to fix the button itself?

I've had success with the stock loot all while having the inventory window open.

Yes. It also happens if you doubleclick each individual piece.

The way you have to do it not to make these bugs happen, is to right click and loot each individual piece.

Interesting will try that... Does it fix the need of having to click a gazillion times?

In my experience it is the only way to loot consistently without buggyness

Usually I do this but sometimes another player will run up whose loot all button works and I end up right click looting something that disappears a moment after I right click it. So damn frustrating. I think I will use this macro.

That sounds really weak. But there is a paragraph about it in server rules so do not worry.

I've been testing and cannot reproduce this problem. In fact for me chests/lotbags bug more often when I do not use this macro and just click. So far I've probably opened like 100+lootbags with it and not a single one bugged. I see one problem with it - sometimes looting chests from a range what would not be normally possible. You have to come close to chest and open it but then you can move back and when you're opening another chest in same zone it sometimes loots both of them (usually adding to your inventory trash you left behind in first chest). However such problem does not occur often.

My question here is - is such macro allowed, somehow sanctioned to use?
I know since this topic was not removed its not a complete taboo to talk about but I would be calmed with some official statement. Bugs concerning looting from an impossible range are rather mild in category of exploits cause you'll have to be close to the chest at least once and what is left there is mostly trash you did not want in a first place. So far for me it is least buggy most annoyance saving method of looting in extended client. People using it to ninja are just jerks and probably would still try to ninja without it but I believe staff can deal with such.

Well when you are in a large group they may not realize they are "ninja looting". Also they can simply say their character is greedy. Finally I refuse to complain to the admins about silly stuff. Someone recently walked off after agreeing to xfer my rcr gp. They refused to give it back but a few thousand gp isn't worth getting admins involved to me.

The loot all macro already exists in game, the button is simply broken. I already fix broken chests I see regardless if I break them and I pick up other people's trash constantly. Which reminds me that a functional loot all would probably trick those litterbugs into picking up the empty alesteins and rags that are apparently unremovable from the loot table.
