The Mind...

A man of complimentary contradictions whose mind was almost entirely carved out by the experiences he had gone through. He is a warrior through and through, one that finds joy in battle and victory yet he greatly values life. To him if you love something you must protect it and the value of a warrior is one of someone who fights so that those who can't don't have to.

In essence; The worth of a warrior is determined by whom or what he fights. A weak warrior harasses the weak.

This combination of a desire to protect all that which is alive be it people, animals or nature itself with his undeniable roots as a warrior result in a somewhat stubborn man who will oft speak his mind against that which he finds distasteful yet knows when to back down. If his desire to protect people, results in not killing that which goes on to kill others does that not mean their blood is on his hands? If so is it his choice to make to endanger the lives of others or take someones life? Life itself is oft a dizzying array of grey. And a burden that he will carry and shield himself from with the helm he almost always wears.

The world itself is one filled with countless injustices, callous actions of leaders, prosecution of tieflings, a world of haves and have nots where the child starves and the merchant or noble fattens up, hypocritical knights whose honour has decayed in the dungeons of obedience, and on and on.

The one who drives his people to extremities can not be a leader.
The Before...

Yuris current known life started with being found by an adventuring party of a Dwarf, a Tiefling and a Human in the charred remains of an ambushed Elven Caravan. Leaving him as a child in the hands of said band with only his name, an unopenable scroll case and a presumably family sword. Whoever his real parents are, where they are from or where they are remains a mystery. Possibly in the scroll case itself? Though who knows what its contents even are.

It is so that Yuri grew up constantly on the road, seeing the many villages of the Sword Coast come and go some even ceasing to exist entirely until he began to adventure on his own in earnest. It is in the company of his adoptive parents that he learned many of his values, though moreso martial prowess. Unfortunately this experience left him somewhat imbalanced, stunted and odd. In a sense he was taught by everyone but his own people on who he is. Likely forever leaving him an oddball and outcast in the eyes of everyone. Only truly beginning to explore the coast when his parents, save for the Dwarf, died due to a passage of time.
Thoughts on Races...

Humans - "They sure don't live very long... I like them quite a lot although it's hard to tell if they're good or bad people. But the freedom is their charm."
Elves - "An Evil race of hypocrites. I assume the Seldarine are an Evil Pantheon but my thoughts on that have changed. A rare few of them are alright. And there's worse evils out there. I wouldn't kill them despite what they may think. I know how much they adore killing other Elves. I guess they're kin too, sadly. Do I hate myself? I guess I do. It's nobodies fault that they were born an Elf. Thinking about it really does make me realise how much self loathing I have for being an Elf."
Drow - "A scourge to be exterminated. Their society is nonsense and a mechanism of self destruction. I feel bad for them but for the vast majority of them there is no salvation."
Eilistraeen Drow - "Poor persecuted people. A minority of the Drow population that isn't completely messed up in some way. Not accepted by their kin below or above, or anyone. An awful way to live."
Dwarves - "The best people with the best of crafts and brews. I probably have too much of a sense of kinship to them through my adoptive dad."
Half-Elf - "They're alright. The human side probably balances things out."
Half-Drow - "A fate similar to the Eilistraeens. Disliked and unwanted everywhere, an awful and unjust fate for the crime of being born."
Half-Orc - "Sad. I can't imagine such a being came to conception through... willing means... but its not their fault for being born."
Halflings - "Nice jovial people. Even the weird ones have been pleasant."
Aasimar - "They're like Genasi. Aren't they? More goodly origin Tieflings? They're okay."
Genasi - "I never know what quite to make of them. I'm not sure if I like them or not? I don't hate them."
Orc - "Race? They're not a race. They're a stain. The only way this world will know peace is when not even a single orc remains alive."
Tiefling - "More persecuted peoples for the crime of being born. This world loves injustice."
Gnomes - "What? I guess they're like... small hin? Strange dwarves? I rarely see this lot."
Fae - "They're an interesting and terrifying lot. I've seen their Dryad Empress, Queen thing. She was very polite and cordial. And the Toad king was lovely too, albeit a bit out of his mind like all Fae tend to be. I enjoy their company so long as they don't try to pull a fast one on me but that's like being surprised that an orc burned down your house when you built it near an Orc camp. You have to be ready for it."
Kobold - "The little things think they're dragons! Their 'rawr's are endearing, they'd be adorable if they weren't all so murderous. Though I've seen some that aren't. There's more harmful things out there and their existence is closer to hin bandits than anything. Not ideal but I can see them do better perhaps?"
Thoughts on Gods...

Seldarine (Old) - "They must be an Evil Pantheon given the general tendencies of my Elven Kin."
Seldarine (Current) - "A good pantheon, not really sure what to think on them beyond that. It's very Elf focused which... I don't really like my kin. But the pantheon and its ideas are good and their foundations solid."
Dark Seldarine - "The world would be better with all these gods dead and gone."
Eilistraee - "Very honourable and admirable goddess. To fight against all the odds, the self sacrifice and knowledge of doing a thankless task simply because you believe it is right. She is a true warrior to her core. Her dedication to protecting the innocent, the persecuted and fight injustice is truly inspiring. I've yet to encounter a god that aligned so well with my ideals and inspired me as much as she has. Corellon must have been a very good father for her to turn out the way she has. It takes a lot of strength and a strong will to do what she does."
Tempus - "A warrior god! I like him though not as much as Eilistraee. He's not as much of an underdog as she is. He doesn't have even a tint of protecting the innocent and persecuted as she does."
Ilmater - "The Human god I like the most. His dedication to the oppressed and the suffering is extremely admirable. If I was a Human I'm sure he'd be my primary object of worship."
Auril - "Evil goddess. But isn't winter generally evil and harsh? For an Evil goddess she isn't particularly bad in my experience. Feels closer to a force of nature. Uncaring and cruel, callous even. But their clergy is amongst the more pleasant I've seen. When the time comes we will fight once more I am certain, but then spring shall come to that conflict with the next winters conflict on the horizon. But they respect me, so I respect them in kind."
Cyric - "The Idiot God, The Great Fool, The Failure. Hate him. Can't wait till he is deposed."
Mystra - "She... really needs to stop dying."

If any dates are wrong please let me know, I have been terrible at documenting what Yuri participates in and this is partly to help keep track of what I can remember.

Due to rewriting and ret-conning a portion of his backstory to be more cohesive and just overall better as I fleshed it out over the years the old one doesnt fully apply but I'll keep it archived for posterity.
Original Sun May 21, 2017 Biography

Race: Wood Elf
Age: 120
Height 160CM
Weight: 70KG

Hair: Dark Brown

Personality Profile: A crude and down to earth Elf who loves to joke and make friends. His charm is certainly unique and not appreciated by everyone however, in fact he leaks it out of his arse he is so charming.
General Health: Fairly healthy and muscular appearance yet he is also quite skinny despite all that. Something that shows the most on his skinny face due to the lack of food that he eats.
Deity: Corellon Larethian
Initial Alignment: Neutral Good
Profession: Adventurer/Wanna-be knight
Base Class & Proposed Development: Fighter, Dervish, Berserker, Shadowdancer
Habits/Hobbies: Polishing his greatsword, adventuring and treasure hunting.
Languages: Common, Elven, Draconic
Weapon of Choice: Greatsword

Background: Yuri was born to a mage mother and a fighter father who lived on the road. One tragic day, on his 20th birthday, they were traveling on a job to the sword coast when bandits ambushed their caravan killing both his parents in the process. Just as the bandits were figuring out what to do with Yuri a champion came in and dispatched the groupf of bandits. Seeing Yuri she couldn't help but take him in as her own child.

As years passed she taught him several skills, such as how to be a dervish and the art of shadowdancing. Though that was more done by the champion partner who seemed to also be a berserker. Passing on that skill to Yuri as well. One day though they simply vanished without a trace. Both Sun elf and moon elf gone. Leaving a 90 year old Yuri to fend on his own, to use the skills he had learned to survive.

Yet they had never taught him anything about his kind, never taught him anything of the outside world. All he knew was that they were traveling knights from an elven order far, far away. A thing that had quite the effect on Yuri only feeding his infatuation with knights and their orders. A cause for him to train harder and eventually leave the woods as a grown man capable of becoming a part of something much greater than himself.

A man who may one day save a lonesome and scared child, training them to be a powerful warrior who can stand up for themselves. Perhaps one day he would be the hero that those two elves were to him.
Goals:
Find out what really happened to his parents and the two elves that left him
Found his own order.
The construction of an Elven Fort.
The creation of a city similar to Myth Drannor.
To eventually become a man admired by many for his chivalry. And a hero to some for his deeds.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Is founding his own knightly order, something that Yuri would have to strive hard towards to achieve. To speak to many influential people and to gain alliances as well as funds. Eventually having to train up many men and write up a guild page. I believe that this would result in a lot of many smaller plots branching out such as DM run events to gain favour with nobles and towns for the eventual construction of the guild hall, RP with many people to gain members et cetera.

There is also his search for the Moon and Sun elves who left him, a quest that he may one day follow up on via DM ran events. It would be interesting to see how his mentors would react to a grown up Yuri who had succeeded in founding his own order.
Disclaimer: The current background is a very short version of the one that was submitted to DMs for the biography rewards thing, while also being used to somewhat aid in tracking of what is going on with him at the moment. I'll keep on updating it as I feel like it with inspiration but I had to get this somewhat up to date.

Five Years Later...
The more some things change, the more they stay the same.

Hair Style: Short cut, often messy, albeit naturally straight hair.

Personality Profile
A crude and down to earth Elf who loves to joke and make friends. Perhaps only becoming more blunt and crude as the five years have gone on though he has also learnt to hold that back in serious moments with his own moments of introspection. Yet when he doesn't like something, often due to conflicting with his values, he makes his disdain known. Same being true for the opposite!
Deity: REDACTED
Initial Alignment: Neutral Good
Profession: Hedge Knight/Knight-Errant
Habits/Hobbies: Drinking fine Ciders, Moonlit walks, collecting gems, collecting the petrified, dancing, singing, swordsmanship, camping.
Languages: Common, Elven, Sylvan, Chondathan
Weapon of Choice: Greatsword

Lessons along the way:
The years on and off the coast have hardened and broadened Yuri from a slag of iron into something a bit more refined yet not quite a blade.

His time around people, and being the leader of his own organization for a time, is both a great personal shame and equally great of a learning experience in how to better handle such a role on the future. Perhaps even a deep rooted thirst for a position of command, albeit not at the complete top but supplementary to somebody else.

The strength and skill of a leader doesn't derive from being able to do everything, it comes from being good at delegating tasks. A great leader can do very little beyond directing those below him for he, or she, found much more competent experts in said fields to take care of them much better than any generalist could. While also ensuring that the tasks have full attention of whoever works on them. It is also equally important that a leader has one or two people who share his vision and passion to direct everyone in the instances he is gone or busy with other things. Life is unpredictable and having a good right and left hand is critical.

Most his years have been one of wandering where the wind takes him but the few fair winds that took him to the coast have been mostly uneventful and times of helping people much as he did before. This time materializing in sizable donations to the Temple of Ilmater, patrols of the coast and Greenest itself all while offering free protection to all those who sought it.

Perhaps what he truly learnt was that a good man simply helps, and does not brag nor even say they helped unless asked. Otherwise are they really helping out of the kindness of their heart or simply out of wanting to feel self-satisfaction? At the end of the day someone is helped which is always good. But intent matters when one wants to be chivalrous: You strive to help not to be recognized for helping.

Values:
Those who do not keep their word, and break said verbal agreements, have their word mean nothing. It breaks the trust placed in the person or organization, and is disrespectful towards the ones who put in that trust. It is simply a show of how dishonest, distrustful and disrespectful one is.

Those who use violence first are in the wrong, this includes threats of violence. Regardless of the reason.

A warrior value is determined by those he fights. A strong warrior fights strong enemies, a weak warrior fights weak enemies. A worthless warrior fights those who are incapable of reasonably fighting back or even having a fighting chance. A great warrior fights against odds that greatly disadvantage them. Thus it is a warriors duty to protect the weak for anyone who attacks them stains the very idea of strength and power in cowardice and infirmity.

Goals:
  • Expanding and strengthening Greenest.
  • Unifying the Greenfields as the Greenfields Kingdom.
  • Rising to a position of authority within Greenest, one he can push its expansion and influence from.
  • Becoming nobility, starting his own little settlement.
  • To eventually become a truly chivalrous man.
  • Get a better, symbolic, signature Greatsword.
  • Own a berry farm to make Ciders from, settle down.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
His adoptive family is still out there somewhere.
He is unaffiliated even with the two Elven settlements despite being invited, mostly due to desires to be affiliated with Greenest and not wanting any conflicts of interests to arise should that happen.

Updated main post, left the old archived. This should help modernize the bio somewhat. I'll keep on slowly adding to it hopefully. Still need to add a few sections.
