Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
As in below description:
http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Expert_Tactician
Feat does not work. At the moment it provides no effect at all. This feat is present in some items and is available during feat selection.
We've been discussing on IRC to what could it be changed into.
Kaedrin made this feat give +1 AB however devs response to this proposition was it is too powerful of a change. Another proposition was change it to give backstab which also was deemed too good.
Changing it to http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Improved_Flanking
Seemed to have some level of potential acceptance. Problem is implementing would take much work but at the moment is only feat I could think off.
I was wondering what community would like to see in this place? We're looking for ideas that revolve around tactics in general. Some bonuses when enemy is surrounded or some other tactical themed advantage. It apparently has to be weaker than +1 AB and Backstab for devs to consider.
Any ideas?

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
Cant we just make it work? As closely to description as possible?
By just giving the target a 2 AC penalty for 1 round? After he was hit with attack of opportunity?

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
yeah, if it can be fixed - please do it.
If Backstab is deemed to powerful - Improved_Flanking is even more
How about replacing it with the (barely taken) Opportunist feat ?

... automatically gains a +4 competence bonus to attack rolls when making an attack of opportunity.

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
What I proposed was giving the target of the PC with expert tactician a -1 penalty to AC if it's outnumbered 3 to 1. It's supposed to be teamwork.
And no I can't see how to make it work as described btw.
The +1 AB like Kaedrin did being too powerful is simply my opinion, if QC thinks it's fine I'll still do it even if disagree you know

Valefort just do it as i proposed... it will work just liek the feat description, but without the dmg bonus.. every ally will have an AB bonus for a round by the AC debuff...

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
From a QC perspective giving a normal feat the same power level as an epic feat is a no go. So +1 AB for all attacks is the same thing as Epic Prowess (except for not opening up Expose Weakness), thus I would not be in favor of making it grant +1 AB. The AC Debuff is a better route since it is closer to the description and not an 'always on' bonus.

It's not possible dzidek, you cannot know when there was an attack of opportunity. At least I can't see how.

well cant you just use it when a sneak attack dice is used to do dmg?
then we will narrow the feat to sneak attack

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
How about a bonus that applies based on number of allies within 5 meters? +1 for 2-3 party members, +2 for 4 or more? Theoretically if you have at least a group of 2 you should be able to flank the enemy via positioning and as stated it is a feat that applies tactics with allies, so giving the bonuses based on multiple PC's within a small area would seem beneficial while requiring partying up to be useful.

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
There's two expert tactician variants to draw from.
Song and Silence: A Guidebook to Bards and Rogues Which is a 3.0 book
Complete Adventurer Which is a 3.5 book.
Both however look for a prerequisite of Combat Reflexes which we don't have, but exists in pnp. At least I think thats the editions of books.

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
I would avoid adding something to the combat event scripts. That would cost a lot of resources for one little feat. A permanent heartbeat check should also be avoided.
How about making it a short duration combat feat on a timer? Buff for user and all allies within short range for 3 rounds, cooldown of 1 minute. Buff depending on number of allies to apply tactics for:
0 allies: +1 AB
1 ally +1 AB, +1 Dmg
2 allies: +2 AB, +1 Dmg
3 allies: +2 AB, +2 Dmg

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
how about Combat Expertise as prereq
60s CD
12s duration
range large centered on caster
non stacking
0 allies no bonus
1-2 allies +1 ab
>2 allies +2 ab

0 allies no bonus

Re: Expert Tactician variant for BGTSCC
Compared to what the feat is supposed to do all those suggestions are fairly powerful. Another possibility is to just remove the feat altogether as it can't be fixed properly.
