Reports of chests/looting spots not appropriate for zone CR

Unread post by Mork »

Not exactly a bug but I'm pretty sure it can be called an Issue.

It looks like some chests are misplaced by CR rating of area. Topic can be used to report such chests.
For example:
Ice Giants area has 2 chests that are opened by a key from boss there. I've been there often enough to see how those chests have too low CR set. Every chest in this ice castle can potentially yeld better rewards while what is supposed to be richest treasure after boss fight never gave me more than couple coins and a scroll.
On the other hand there is a pile of bones lying next to a road that leads to FAI from the north where you can find pretty awesome gear. Those bones seem to almost always contain at least 1250 gold vendored item which seems way too good for a lootspawn people check without any risks at all.
Another example would be chest before Glibbering cave (FAI map). I've seen it give good items while its accessible from area without mobs.

Ahah it's true for the Frost Keep, in fact the reward was set higher than the possibilities and so it defaulted to a miserable level

There might be more places like that if builder/dev setting those was not aware there is suposed to be maximum value. Worth checking if there is easy search method.

No such thing unfortunately, you have to open up the area, find the chest and look up its variables. But problems, if problems there are, will be only in high epic areas like Frost Keep.

Of course... No one is going to have an issue with finding Epic Fighter Combat Boots in the Gnoll caves or a +4 Longbow of Magic in the Seaside Troll cave... :P

However, finding too many spoons or empty ale steins in epic areas...c'mon, couldn't it at least be an ever-full ale stein??? :x

I'll open the area up and see what they are set at.

While we are at it. Perhaps we can check the VOD? For the last few months the best loot has been in the bones there and the chests are dropping some pretty low loot. Perhaps I am just hopeful that it was not my luck but the same issue as Frost Kings?

To be fair I've named in my first post 2 locations for super easy and fairly good loot that pretty much can be randomly picked up from the ground without any real effort.

So yea - it would be cool if players used this thread to report both to low, and to high rewards from chests.

Ok I checked all of the chests in the Frost Keep. There was an error in one of the variables on one of the boss chests... I fixed that and it should be in the next server update. Good Luck and happy looting! :P

I have another suspect - Naga temple. Chests opened with keys from Queen boss.
20gp and a potion and similarly low reward from another. Of course it can be potentially my luck but worth checking.

At least Beshaba favours you :).

And, man, I cannot wait for the update to hit us.

2nd UD drider area chests are like CR 1 garbage, but at least that zone has 7 skeletons to make up for that oversight :P
