How bad is 10 mbs really?

Looking at getting internet at home. The price difference between 10 and 25 is huge where I'm at. So how bad is 10mbs really?

If you mostly game you won't notice. If you mostly stream TV and such you will.

When I was doing some research to downsize my internet to save money, I think it was 25 Mbps to do 4k streaming or was it HD?

Remember it is not mega bits per second, it's megabytes.

Or do I have that reversed to? Hmmm.

Anyways, if you have more than one device working it will also impact your connection.

There is a formula out there of how much speed you really get based on your connection. Lower speeds are hit just as hard as the higher ones.
If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.

10 mbps is a theoretical maximum download speed of 1.25 MB/s. It might be enough to watch HD videos on youtube. You'll notice it though. And perhaps buffering issues. If you game on steam, you can calculate how long it takes to get the larger games downloaded.

Mind, is it mbs or mbps.

1 Mbps = 0.125 MB/s

I had 10mbps while studying to cut down on costs. I could live with it just fine. The only time I really noticed was when downloading large files, games and such. Streaming netflix and stuff was mostly fine.

I'm on campground internet at ~5 Mbps, and when I watch 4K Youtube videos, I set the preference, then do something else while awaiting the buffer.

I don't know what providers are available for you, but Comcast has huge latency and disconnection errors for me. So, please avoid that horrible company if possible. Charter is the way to go.
