Golems, foe or friend

How do commoners react to Golems? I see them in shops, in the Friendly Arm courtyard etc. But would they be allowed to enter?
Are they considered to be safe? Or a bit like summons of all kind?

i think that has to do with your character. How would she react to a golem? some of my toons would not be fazed by seeing one while another may KOS it. that is for you to decide. you know your character better than anyone else would.

No, you clearly misunderstood. How will the commoners react?
The question is are they allowed to enter Baldur's Gate, the FAI, a shop in Nashkel? Or should they remain outside?

I think it's probably best to assume all companions, summons & cohorts are not going to be welcome in towns & cities unless they're a common domestic animal (cat familiar, dog companion, maybe the piggie?)

Anecdotally, I was told by a DM in the past that they were not KOS (considered a companion by rules), and that they were frowned upon in BG but allowed at the time during rebuilding efforts. Allowed in farmlands.
We could use an official response. Probably need to PM the team to get one or post in DM Questions forum. Ultimately it comes down to whether it is considered a summon or companion.

Well animal companions aren't allowed either. For obvious reasons, but for the dog.

Actually, only cats are allowed inside Baldur's Gate.

Are you sure? I know cats are protected. Dogs are not considered ... dangerous. Not on the same level of wild animals anyways.

Considering a DM posted in previous threads about at least one dog being well received (as part of the whole orphan RP), I would say that dogs are at least not universally disallowed.

Far as I understand, BG has a law that forbids "Unclean animals" from entering, including livestock, beasts of burden and so. Cats are considered clean and useful, so they are allowed.

There are dogs and cats wondering around the streets IG, so yes, both are allowed. Horses and "livestock" are to be kept outside of the city walls, to keep the amount of waste to a minimum. Pig familiars, ferrets, rabbits, cats, and dogs are allowed. Golems are rare, but most commoners are not concerned by them, particularly those who live close to the Temple of Gond. Wild animals, monsters, and chromatic dragons are KoS to the guards. Everyone else should
respect the rules on companions.

They would attract a rather large crowd! However the guards would ask them to move on. Please do not bring your dragons into cities and towns.
