bashing vs open lock on chests

Unread post by sivsta »

I'm new to the community and have a question about chests and open lock.

It seems like you can bash most chests, but I was hoping there'd be a slight advantage to picking the lock. Like slightly better chance at loot or a little more gold. In a realistic scenario, if you bashed open a chest, it might break some of the fragile contents within, or have a chance to break the weapon you are bashing with. This could be a topic for the recommendations area of the forum...

The benefits I can tell, are a little extra xp and the possibility of un-bashable chests later on.

For now there is no breaking when bashing, however ther are unbashable chests (very few though) and unlocking chests gives you exp.

can the unbashable chests have a slightly better loot menu. that would be quite an improvement.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with the "loot levels"

Now to explain. The levels are correct for every area. That is not the issue. The issue is the loot tables and the RIG system has repeating junk. So what happens even though there are good things in the chest system is about 95% of us get screwed with crap loot.

i am not complaining about the loot system. i was trying to give the pickers a little more value without having a whole new system. there are very few unbreakables and thought this little tweek could hold some value.

Right but what I am saying is upping the level won't matter. When you are effectively getting crap on CR25+ chests in VOD and Frost King and Grey Peaks then what does it matter to up the level on any chest? Little to no point really. Corpses drop better gear than a epic trapped chest on the average and this is not something that needs testing. It is just true has been getting tested for months now that is why they put restrictions on the corpses suddenly.

The loot quality was not the reason, when you see the loot tables there are some high end stuff there, it was only because of the cooldown and not party friendly aspect.

RNG is evil. Don`t expect anything nice. Just be grateful if once in 2 years something useful drops.
And I noticed more empty loot too. At least now you can tell at once if it was generated that way or you happened on a bugged loot container like bones etc.

If it pops empty I immediately revert to trying to fix it. I.E. broken container fix of using the WASD keys to break movement just as the chest GUI pops up. If that does not work then I move on. I get a lot of empties. It is frustrating really. Pretty sure I am being cursed by the server for yelling at Endelyon at this point........what is the standard offering for appeasing server gods? :D

You don't have to anymore. If a timer appears on your second click, that loot was generated empty. No need to fix it. If not, try to fix it.

Does this actually apply to corpses / skeletons too? I thought the WASD trick was for chests that have the lid stuck open graphically. I do get a lot of empty containers that are not chests and this might be why.

Yes corpses and containers can break much the same way only they do not have a visual.

Thanks I will keep that in mind. I don't like seeing an empty skeleton when I just know there is a copper ring somewhere on one of its fingers waiting to be plucked off! :D
