How exactly does Lunge work?

Unread post by sir_blacksoutalot »

LUNGE (feat, maneuver): You Lunge against your last attacked target, causing an attack of opportunity but doing +5 damage if you hit. This is a free attack made at your highest AB. Usable once per turn.
I haven't had much luck getting value out of this feat. But I have a feeling I might not be timing it correctly.

Anyone have any tips on how to best use Lunge? Like do I need to wait until all my attacks have cycled, then click the hotkey? As a fighter with 6 attacks/round, is it even worth mixing this feat into the rotation?

A bit of insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is a free attack once per minute that gains +5 damage. However, you get a free attack against you as well.

The attack is made using the stand in actor functionality which has been tweaked due to multiple issues in the past (for example allowing for sneak attacks against the target due to the stand in actor flanking). However, in this case when it is used could possible be important with regard to what Attack Bonus is used in the free attack. Try testing it in different sequences and posting a screenshot of your combat log which might help clarify the mechanics a bit.

I guess I'm not the only one who can't figure out when to click these feats and always interrupt an attack sequence, losing attacks... thus not making them worth to use  Oh how nice if these were automatic! *Dreamwishes*
