Anyone interested in forming an adventuring band?

Unread post by chad878262 »

Hey all, I am looking in to a new concept and wondering if any others would be interested in testing out a new character from level 1. To be honest my play times are sporadic, but I usually know Monday if I am going to have a 'free' day to get in game. When I do play it is usually from ~12:00 GMT until ~19:00 GMT (so long as no urgent/last minute things come up with work requiring my immediate attention). Usually Wednesday and Friday are the two most likely days so my thought is to get a group that meets on those days and goes on a couple of adventures together. The rules in order to keep everyone at approximately similar levels:

1. No logging in except to play with the group, or if you do log in with your character minimize XP gain. So if you need to go buy some item or sell some stuff, pick up healing or other supplies that's fine, but no looking for RP, quest running, grinding, etc.

2. No muled gear, let's start with level 1's and get the full experience together.

3. At least 3 people required for group play. If there are only 2 people able to get in game, play some alts. With 3 or more people from the group, consider it enough to go out adventuring.

4. Weekly meet ups will be held Wednesday and Friday. Probably need at least a 2 hour window between 1200 and 1900 GMT so if you have at least 2 hours anywhere in that window feel free to post!

My character will be a Rogue/Guild Thief/Bodyguard. The enforcer type, but as a Strongheart Halfling (because I never play shorties, so why not). Would love to get a couple of Fighter types, at least one divine and one arcane caster, maybe another lock/trap expert (or multi-class Rogue/Mage or Rogue/Cleric type). Goal would be to have 3-6 players to go out and adventure together. RP will be a definite, but very little "campfire" RP, focused more on Adventure RP - this includes RP related to planning out excursions, scouting, tactics/strategic discussions as well as the actual act of going in to the dungeons for loot and glory/what-have-you. No alignment rules unless someone posts and decides to play a character like Paladin or something that necessitates such. I'm hopeful there are some that share these play times and would be interested in this little experiment. Hope to hear from you!

The Team (hopefully eventually filled up):

1. chad878262 - Halfling Rogue

2. ValerieJean - Tiefling Warlock

3. dedude - Human Barbarian

4. Ariexcedes - Aasimar Cleric

5. Calodan - <RACE> Bard

6. Slip - Tiefling rogue

EDIT: dedude available ~1600 GMT through 2200 (but I am available only until 1900. Thus currently we have a 3 hour window where we can meet up.)

EDIT 2: First meeting will be Friday, 9/29 @ 1600 GMT in the Elfsong Tavern.

I'd be game does race matter? I was wanting to try a warlock if that falls under the criteria above, and what's one more char to my already 500 mil.

outside of being surface non-monster race (half-orc is fine) I don't have any issues with any races. If more folks want to go Underdark I can always do something besides Halfling though. Was really hoping for a somewhat PnP type of party so any race and class is fine with me. Group of adventurers from varied backgrounds trying to make their fortune.

I'm in too if we can make the schedules align. Can probably be available 16-22 GMT on most weekdays. Been wanting an excuse to play a barbarian. His backstory is that he likes to eat tieflings though :P

Doesn't bother me :P, so yeah I'm all set after work and I'll make the character. When do we want to start start? Besides when the places are all filled. Also would the chars already know each other or?

I will work on a back story, but figured it can be as simple as a flyer on the notice board in BG (or Soubar if you prefer) looking to form an adventuring company. I can start as early as Friday if that works for everyone. Updated the first post with ValerieJean and dedude, so far we have a Barbarian, Warlock and Rogue.

Of course if either of you have something more intriguing I'm up for whatever as far as back story goes. I'm personally just a fan of the old D&D trope "a group of diverse individuals meet at the Green Dragon Inn" (google "Peldor Green Dragon Inn" and go read the first 50 or so stories, good stuff).

Friday work for you two?

I'm very interested in this Idea usually looking for a group or just general rp though most of my online time, usually on through most of the day doing one thing or another( think translated it 3- 7gmt is 3pm-8pm est if I can convert shiot ).

been really wanting to try a cleric (might already have an idea) or warprist support caster type so I can try and fill in that little pocket, thinking offset the group a little with human or better-suited aasimir

Friday should be good for me. And I like starting it off from the notice board.

Four spots filled and we basically have the 4 roles filled too! Barbarian, Cleric, Warlock, and Rogue. A couple of spots left, don't want to have so many that it gets difficult to adventure, but having 6 is nice in case someone can't make it (likely me, as often as not!)

First meeting will be Friday at 1600 GMT. Any preference as to BG or Soubar to get started in? I am leaning toward Soubar mostly because I have done those low level area's a bit less, but am fine with either.

Just another note, next week I have to fly out to California Wednesday - Friday (October 4-6)so will not likely be able to meet on either day, but if possible will make myself available at the same time Monday or Tuesday if others can make an exception. Literally got an e-mail about 30 minutes ago advising me of the necessity. Typical. :P

If you all want to be a JC section of the Windspells—the original adventuring band solicitation (lol)—I'm sure Caed and the other Windspells can kick down a few quests related to SO MUCH that is happening in the active storylines of the Server.

If you want that greater involvement, of course.

Happy to join in as a sub-group of the Windspells. Just needed different play time or would have joined originally!

Sure man, but if you want to go StormSinger, might I recommend more of a CHA bard? Could still go for STR of ~14-16 (20-22 after Bull's) and should have no issue hitting stuff, but higher CHA is great to improve your Stormsinger abilities (esp. Storm of Vengeance!). In addition, since you'll be in a party with no actual Wizard you can team up with ValeireJean to handle our Arcane Needs. If you truly want a STR based Bard/Stormsinger type I'm happy to build it, but in general for a STR Bard I would either go B26/R4, B26/F4 or B24/R3/F3. Let me know what you're looking for and it shall be built!

Edit: Also, what Race? Aasimar is great, butt will have ECL +1. Wood Elf is nice for the + STR with no CHA penalty, but you lose skill points due to -2 INT. Human is fine, but it does help to get either +STR or +CHA. Your choice, Air Genasi or Water Genasi might add a cool bit of RP flavor as well, if you're interested in that route (but with -2 CHA it does hurt your actual build, but RP trumps that so let me know what interests you).

With your suggested play times, it is very likely I can be online for an hour within that time frame on Wed. and Fri., and thus, Caed could pass on much questing and adventuring requests.

Even if your group would go on their own agenda, it would be useful to all involved to have eyes and ears open for encounters that relate to the unfolding storylines currently active.

Not to forget to mention that the Windspells have a bit of Inventory that could benefit beginning adventurers, though supposedly, the Loot System is at Warp 9. :|

Ask and you shall receive, Chad + Group! Good luck. Look forward to seeing what you all can do.
