To me the different exchange depending on what reply we give to questgivers mostly promote breaking character alignment for better quest rewards (depending on alignment).
Wouldnt it be better to offer the same reward for any response choice and thus promote acting more in accordance to character?

I think it would make sense to do it this way:Storm Munin wrote:To me the different exchange depending on what reply we give to questgivers mostly promote breaking character alignment for better quest rewards (depending on alignment).

1. Offer same xp reward, if it is just alignment-based branching choices at the end. Gold reward can vary.
2. Offer extra xp if you pass a difficult check.
3. Offer significantly less xp or no xp, if the player turns down the request. (I.e. "Grixen, I hate you" option)
Basically, different alignment options hsould not get more experience. However, different alignment option CAN grant extra money, different items, etc.
This would be a good way to test how much a character adheres to their alignment/principles. I.e. do you help halflings for free or try to rob them? Would robbing them be a tempting option?
This kind of thing.
