Suggestion: Gambler Consolation Prizes
Okay I have a bit of gold and enough that I generally don't worry about blowing some to test out some of the cool things that have been put in.
One of those things is the gambler down in the FAI basement gambling and conference room. I fully agree this was a neat little gold sink idea put in. I do not agree however in its full implementation. I went in and just to test the system a bit I started gambling. It is addictive. That is good. You want people to sink gold into it. It will for sure gold sink about 500k in about 2 minutes if you are a person with some gold. After 2 minutes once I had lost 500k and nothing to show for it.....500k for me is 2 days of farming a boss. For another person that is a longer task. Perhaps even a year or so of play. Needless to say I will never use it again. EVER. No point in wasting my life minutes grinding some coin on this server to just piss it away on that thing.
What I propose is a consolation prize output that is approximately the same value as what was gambled. Potions and or elixirs would make great consolation prizes. I.E. I spend a 10k bet I lost I get 10 healing potions. Value is approx. 10k in gold for a 10 pack.
10 gold give em a bless potion. ON up the ladder to 10k gold. For gods sake though if you want it to be a useful use of scripting and server space please make it more useful other than just stealing my coin.......That is all.

no, gambling in fake world should be like real world. a losing proposition, unless you are actually lucky.
also, can we please randomize boss spawn times, to up to half an hour? Boss farming is lame. it would be better if it dropped once per character per reset, like chests, but probably not technically feasible.

So you want to get what you put in when you lose and keep what you win? That's like buying things and getting free coin. What you're suggesting a gold fountain, not a sink. Im not sure if you've ever done any real gambling before but losing part of why it's a gamble. No one forced you to spend 500k gambling, and spending a lot of money is absolutely no guarantee that you'll make any. Games of chance are just that, now go farm up some more coin because there's actually a gambling ring a few folk run and w- they could use some more business.

500k in two days of boss farming.
I'd say we have more important things to focus on, other than gambling fixes. That's an absurd amount of gold and shouldn't be possible in two days. No wonder things are so screwed.

Lol no but they can nerf the gold output. And now probably will.Calodan wrote:Planehopper wrote:500k in two days of boss farming.

By all means. It just means they will have to hear more and more cries for the obscene amount of power builds, cost of epic items and so on. I have no issue with them consistently creating more headache because less than 1% of the population has no life to be able to do as I described. Typical knee jerk reaction by humans. Never fails.flipside43 wrote:Lol no but they can nerf the gold output. And now probably will.Calodan wrote:Planehopper wrote:500k in two days of boss farming.

Problem is that if a boss drops less gold, that affects looters less than those who visit rarely and need a party :S.

No reason to nerf anything, bosses aren't even the main income source for a looter anyway.

Anyway was just my two cents on the matter. Being a game there are few people who will make use of such a mechanic. Mainly because it is TOO MUCH LIKE RL. People do not play fantasy games to feel like they are in RL. I will take my broken feelings IG and go kill stuffs now.....

Re: Suggestion: Gambler Consolation Prizes
Looked like you were proposing a consolation prize for losing a gamble. At that point it's basically a carnival game, because in gambling you're certainly not walking away with a second place prize. (I mean unless it were some kind of competition). Maybe propose a new game with a set of rules and conditions that fit what you're proposing rather than change an existing game because you lost at it?Calodan wrote: Not sure you understand the proposition of a leisure game........
And yes the knee-jerk reaction to whole 500k in 2 days is amusing.

Re: Suggestion: Gambler Consolation Prizes
they are if you farm them. they give better loot, and spawn about once every 5 minutes. i propose they are all going to need to drop a chest key, no loot. i made a thread about it few days ago when i saw someone farming the orc chieftan.Valefort wrote:No reason to nerf anything, bosses aren't even the main income source for a looter anyway.
the desire for better loot from bosses was better reward for epic battles, not a source of gold farming.
especially now with twinked out noobs, (who would be more likely to be used by these type) that can just stand there and kill the boss without even moving, (an exploit, but exploits should be as mechanically discouraged as possible).

Re: Suggestion: Gambler Consolation Prizes
Epic bosses don't spawn every 5 minutes, far from it. I've farmed enough bosses to know
That orc boss chieftain needs to be looked at, there might be something fishy with his associated quest and I think I know what was done by the exploiting player ...

..so my guess is he had his friend, (or other computer, which is actually what i suspected was going on when they flew past me in the woods, you can oft tell when somebody is using two computers because one of the toons follows the other closely, as if it is a summon)...
..anyways, yeah, maybe he was exploiting, in which case, i wish i had checked his name.
