It doesn't happen in the game, so no.

I have no idea how much it would be necessary to perverse the rules to make this count as griefing.

P.S. It will be very funny if the tome turns out to be some nursery rhymes book.

Negative. Not griefing. Griefing would be a BULLYING act. This is not a bully act at all.

So..... if it doesn't happen game it can't be griefing? I would strongly disagree.

Having seen the original post where what was meant to be "tome" was misspelled as "tomb," I thought the comment made perfect sense. Maybe amidst all the sales of tomes, your PC was trying to make a quick buck and sell a tomb.

But really, you should have either 1) asked the player if you felt that there was any malice, or 2) alerted the moderators. The court of public opinion has no jurisdiction here.

This. It was merely a joke. The player probably knew you had misspelled it and wanted to point it out so you could make the appropriate edit.
– Griefing
– Do not intentionally harass or disrupt the playerbase. This includes, but is not limited to, OOC harassment, stealing from campfires, repeatedly instigating PvP with the same person without consideration for the 24-hour rule, and using summons which can be sent hostile to circumvent PVP rules.
2. "Flaming," personal attacks, disrespectful, derogatory, threatening, insulting, or negative comments directed towards or about another member of the community will not be tolerated. This encompasses "trolling," or posts purposely intended in instigate a member of the community in order to create any of the above or disrupt the discussion.
The thing about text based communication is certain signals do not come across well. A harmless joke may read as though it was typed with malice. One thing I always make sure to do is to always type "no" in lowercase. Might just be a personal thing but "No" looks way more aggressive then "no". I digress though the point is the admons will sort it out.

Yes.

Because griefing is making people upset through video game mechanics, and something that happens on the forum does not happen in the actual game.

In some circumstances you may apply "metagaming", "rude behavior", "flaming", "harassment", "personal attacks" to posts (not to the one you linked, though), but you absolutely can't apply "griefing" to any forum behavior. Not possible. You physically can't grief through forums.

I'm quite surprised this is even a question, to be honest.

I also see that post as harmless.

What exactly was the point of this thread?

Even if you missed the original spelling and therefore didn't get the joke.

I mean, even if you are so confused that you don't understand the difference between griefing, flaming, trolling, etc., what exactly was the OP hoping to gain from it?

I'd hazard a guess that Miss Communication and Miss Understood made a short appearance. They can be tricky ladies.

I'd agree. I saw the original post, and taking a guess, the Tomb purchase price comment was some rather dry humor.

I, for one, am glad to see nobody got too heated over all this.
