Dragon Disciple - Bite and Claw attack
Hello BGTSCC Members,
So I've created a Dragon Disciple recently and the class mentions a Claw and Bite attack. However I have found nothing on how it works and attacking while unarmed still provokes an attack of opportunity. Is there something I am supposed to equip, a feat I'm supposed to take (like improved unarmed attack or something), or is this class not flushed out all the way?
If someone can explain how to get this mode working that would be great!

Re: Dragon Disciple - Bite and Claw attack
Update:
The class level that grants Bite and Claw attacks just add Creature Weapon proficiency.
If I can make a suggestion; I think it would be easier if it granted a toggleable mode that modified their unarmed attack visual effects and granted improved damage without provoking attacks of opportunity (like having improved unarmed attack).
I'm not sure how getting Creature Weapon proficiency counts as gaining a Bite and Claw attack unless I could turn into said creature.

Re: Dragon Disciple - Bite and Claw attack
Mine works fine, even if it is actually a bad option for combat.
Upon gaining the creature weapon proficiency, my unarmed damage also changed to 1d4/1d4/1d6. I could then target myself with GMW which also indicated the change in damage effects.
Equipping gloves that improve damage or ab, will not improve either once you have the claws upgrade. Similarly, GMW will only effect the bite attack for 1D6 and not the claw attacks. requiring at least 3 attacks per turn to be of any use.
It is effectively a downgrade if you intend on entering melee with unarmed.

But why does it still provide an attack of opportunity when I attack?
Also what is GMW?

Re: Dragon Disciple - Bite and Claw attack
It shouldn't allow for an attack of opportunity, perhaps yours has not been applied correctly.

this is because the claw and bite are creature weapons, so you need creature weapon proficiency or else they would be unequipped on loginBlueAce417 wrote:I'm not sure how getting Creature Weapon proficiency counts as gaining a Bite and Claw attack unless I could turn into said creature.

All those spawns we fight have the same weapon proficiency. Just kind of an Electron Toolset thing.

Wait so I have creature weapons? Or does it take over the place of my unarmed attack?

Re: Dragon Disciple - Bite and Claw attack
Nevermind, just tested it again and was able to get it without provoking attacks of opportunity. Not sure what was the problem last time.

Re: Dragon Disciple - Bite and Claw attack
yes you actually have creature weapons, that and the proficiency is what makes it so you are considered armed and dont provoke AoO without having to have improved unarmed attack
was talking with valefort the other day and thought maybe you needed to relog but he was saying it shouldnt have mattered, so not sure but was probably some weird fluke then
