Epic Greatswords?
I've been keeping an eye out for high-quality greatswords but really not seeing too many options. My bard is ooking for an all-around damage dealer, +4 EB plus another damage type (physical, magical, elemental, etc.). I know these two are out there:
Manticore Greatsword
+4 EB
Damage Bonus: 1d6 piercing damage
+4 Diplomacy
+4 Intimidate
Cast "Manticore Spikes" 1 use/day
Divine Wrath
+4 EB
Bonus Feat: Divine Might
Anyone know of others that are available in epic shops or up for auction?

I had once a greatsword +4eb, 1d4 electrical, Keen. Named Epic Swift. (There will probably be a Plain or Greater Swift)

Re: Epic Greatswords?
I'd appreciate if someone could provide a bit of intel on the Manticore Spikes provided by this greatsword. I suppose damage, range, save type, and AOE/single target would do the trick.Manticore Greatsword

I found this from NWN1, it's probably a leftover spell that doesn't actually work in this version.
We do have some manticores on the server though, in the High Moor iirc. Maybe this is a move one of them uses.

Re: Epic Greatswords?
So I finally threw down some coin on that Manticore Greatsword. Again, properties are:
There is one thing odd about it. When hot barred, it equips as it should when I click the button. But it won't unequip. To do that, I need to R-click the hotbar button, then select "Unequip" from a pop-up menu.
So it seems what we have here is a bit of false advertising. It's still a fine weapon, but players should be aware they're not getting that extra bang for their buck. Devs, let me know if I should post this to our bugs forum.
The piercing damage works fine. But as for that "Manticore Spikes" spell, there don't seem to be any spell properties at all on this weapon. Right clicking gives no options, and putting it in a hotbar slot also offers no spell trigger.Manticore Greatsword

Re: Epic Greatswords?
It's sold by the placeable props vendor in the new BG East market area (NW corner of that map). But I think it was originally sold in the Avernus epic store.

Re: Epic Greatswords?
This is normal for an item that has a 'use' property attached to it. It will equip with the hotkey but afterwards the game only recognizes the 'use' of the item which would be the manticore spikes. It's then a hotkey for you to use it.sir_blacksoutalot wrote:

Re: Epic Greatswords?
Agreed, that's how most magic items work, and exactly how this Manticore Greatsword should work.
I can slot the item easy enough in my hotbar. And when I click the button the first time, it equips the greatword like it should. But when I click the hotkey a second time, the popup dialog offers only these four options:
- Examine
- Unequip
- Drop
- Appraise Item
There is no option to cast the "Manticore Spikes" spell as listed in the description. So this item is not functioning as described in game. After plunking down that much coin, it sure would be nice if the spell actually worked!
