Item Storage System: Item classification tags?

With the New item storage system, is it possible to modify it such that we can have an Item Type category/classification field in the Rows of the table?

Item Type classifications:
- Armour (All types except Cloth)
- Weapon
- Potion
- Scroll
- Book
- Clothing (gloves, belt, cloak, bracers, boots, Chest Cloth)
- Jewelry
- Consumable (poisons, grenade types, lockpick kits, heal kits)
- anything else I've missed.

I know and understand we have a search function. That is good if you know the name of the item you are looking to find.
But perhaps one may want to view all the items based on a particular category. Not all items have their Item Type descriptor as part of their name.
We can then run a sort/search function on the Item Type field.

Is this a possible solution to help manage storage, as well as offering a solution to those who were using 'disguise name' storage solutions to manage items?

We'll be doling out ten custom classifications of categorizing for the end user as they see fit. If you want to name one of the classifications "Armor", then you can. Naming it instead "outfit123" will work too.
