Bow Damage

Unread post by Kalgain »

Hi, i am very new to archery, and I do not quite understand how bow damage is calculated. It would be very nice if someone can explain it to me.

My character has 16 str, so a +4 damage modifier from str
I have enhance arrow +1 (arcane archer)

-----------------------------------

Case 1: Longbow +1 enhancement bonus, mighty +6, alchemical silver arrows
I would expcect to see
1d8+1+1+4=7-14 dmg

exmeriments show: against animals (bats, bear): 7-14
against everything else (humans,bugbears,bandits,chests): 6-13

Case 2 Longbow
I would expect to see
1d8+1 dmg = 2-9

experiments show: 3-10

(i can see no error, since everything should be stacking, except enhancement bonus on arrows and enhance arrow from arcane archer. Perhaps all bows are enhanced by str/2 even without mighty?)

Thank you

Got a point blank shot feat? (+1 damage when close enough.)

Yeah, 16 strength gives modifier of 3. You do not get the '1.5' modifier with ranged weapons.

If that would be the case, then the damage calculation for the longbow+1 mighty +6 would be correct. Though in the character sheet the longbow receives 1,5x str like any two handed weapon.

You can see this directly when equipping a +4 str item, then the damage increases by +3

Thank you.

Then we have resolved the issue, there is either a bug in the character sheet or the damage calculation.

The damage is displayed to be 1,5x str for two handed ranged weapons.
The damage is calculated to be 1x str for two handed ranged weapons.
