Improved Knockdown(Worth it?)
I've noticed since I've hit late epic levels, that I am using IKD less and less as most bosses and high level mobs seem immune to it and honestly I don't really need it. It's to the point where I sometimes forget I even have it.
I'm wondering if this is normal, and if I'm under-utilizing it?
Thoughts?

First and foremost, Improved Knockdown has always been a PvP feat against weak no strength arcanists. Improved Knockdown does increase your size category, so it should let you knockdown more things.
But yeah... I used to have it on my high strength characters, but not recently anymore.

If so, I think it is imbalanced. Should work at basic epic critters...

I remember using it successfully on wormtrax. Not sure about other creatures.Marathados wrote:If so, I think it is imbalanced. Should work at basic epic critters...

I play a knockdown barbarian with imporved knockdown.
Improved knockdown lets you knockdown some bigger enemies, like Ettins.
Most of the enemies that are worth knocking down are immune to knockdown. Out of my head, the only enemies against whom this feat is useful are dragons.
If i remember correctly though, the one dragon where it would finally be really useful, the white dragon, is immune to knockdown. (Even though I have read about successful knockdown attempts against the white dragon on the forum)

Monster stats and immunities change over the years. Depends on the vision of 'balance' the server has currently. Thus if you go to the creatures forum, you could complain about the unfairness that a bread and butter feat for strength based melee characters has been made useless outside of PvP.
And you could point out how casters can have a small army of summons around them, meaning they are not even getting hit anymore... etc..
But I guess the Knockdown Immunities are also there to make people try out the new custom combat feats.

Even if it is a little weak right now, I still like it. It is just so stylish and satisfying to see a big monster like an Ettin or Dragon drop on the ground.
Some of them also have really nice animations, like one-weapon and shield bash.Sun Wukong wrote:But I guess the Knockdown Immunities are also there to make people try out the new custom combat feats.

Re: Improved Knockdown(Worth it?)
Knockdown is only useful after gaining 3 APR. As My Main Monkey Main pointed out, its superior for interupting a caster if used on the initial attack. But otherwise, practice using on your last APR, which often misses anyway, but will set your melee Toon up for a following round of better hits (while not taking damage either!)
IKD also helps with Shield Charge, if you're into that.

In low levels this is correct. Though from the low epic levels on, the casters which would be worth knocking down are immune. Like the gullykin necrolord or the ogre chieftain in the ogre cave or the stronger yuan-ti casters and several more.

Very much so. The paladin kit Cavilier or strength Barb, it's a must have.
