Re: Ud to surface
In all honesty, it's not something to be taken lightly and is the topic of hot discussion amongst many on the server at the moment.
This is a roleplay server, and most of this type of information, should be gained through in game interactions with other characters.
Also note, there are rules around UD races travelling to the surface.

~Claret - Proprietor of Clarity Cellars.
~Wouveir - Hellstorm Crew
~Adolamin Marblerune - Arcane Engineer and Lorekeeper citizen of the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak. [His Story]
~Harrison Remillard - Morninglord of the Song of the Morning Temple.

Welcome to the server!
Basically, if you're not on the surface to RP there's literally no reason to be there. You will not gain XP from monster kills, neither will you find treasure. The UD is superior in every way for your character progress.
That said, there are several ways to reach the surface. You've a CR 26+ dungeon, a CR 16+ dungeon, or finding a player who is willing to teleport you. All are best uncovered in-game through RP.
Have fun now!

Courtesy of Valefort, this diagram should help you find your way around the Underdark. Naturally, you'll have to do the actual exploring yourself to find out where the transitions are, but it certainly helps to have an idea how the world is laid out!!
As for the RP surrounding navigation, it's very difficult for new players in this server since it's very large and can be difficult to find where other players hang out or how to get to them once you know where they are. I strongly discourage anyone from withholding such information from new players because they should acquire it through RP; instead, share the knowledge and remind them to insist their character learned this at a tavern, or meet them IC and share your experience firsthand.
Metagaming that impinges on others' RP is certainly to be avoided, but metagaming to acquaint oneself with the server and get started with some RP is perfectly healthy. This player's request is something any experienced player would be able to find with ease either IC or OOC from a PC/player with whom they were familiar. (And let's not forget that our second, third, etc. characters seem to find their way around BGTSCC much more easily than our first did!) Please try to be as hospitable as you can bear with new players; it will help make our RP environment even more splendid.
(DMs, feel free to scold me for this; you're in charge of the RP, I'm just trying to be empathetic.)
