*Siveyn looked over the fresh, leather-bound book for a long moment, considering more than just the book before ink met the first page*

“He’s good.” She said. The elf who tried to sneak up behind me with a crossbow. When I turned my head to look at her she seemed surprised. I’m retired, kiddo. I’m not dead yet.

Dasha, a known dhaerow ally, was hassling a group of novice adventures today. Repeatedly threatening them, mocking them and shouting something about Bhaal. Her and her band of cronies (that warrior she always travels with and some half rate elf sneak with a wolf head hood and a crossbow who barely speaks common) thought they’d picked an easy mark. I think they finally realized they were spoiling for a fight they couldn’t win after they tried to recruit Thedran to fight on their side and he mentioned I was “best left alone”.

I feel a bit of a tug to get back into the swing of things. If nothing else to keep my students safe. Not from monsters. They’ve got that handled. Other adventures seem dead set on causing trouble for them. Sadly this is starting to be a bit of a trend. These new kids try to train. Another more experienced group shows up and steals their targets. They call them on it and hostilities escalate. It’s bad form. Makes me feel like teaching some folks how we did it in my day.

Who knows. Maybe Dasha’s antics are just the sort of kick in the pants required to get an old man into the game again.

So I guess this is the first journal entry in a new journal. Retired elves don’t need to record their activities. I guess a new journal seals it, then. I’m officially off the shelf.

The region is alive again with many returning friends and enemies I'd assumed gone for good but one presence seems to eclipse the others in my mind.

My brother walks the coast again and he’s brought with him a student of his own. I do find myself encouraged that he’s developed the temperament necessary for mentoring. Part of of me wonders if this is an older and wiser version of him.

I have a feeling I’m overthinking his return but I can’t be sure I’m overstating it. Of all my contributions he remains my greatest accomplishment. I’ve done more good for our people by training him than I did with founding Doron Amar or creating the Mathora. My contributions to the circle pale in comparison to the impact of the staunch guardian I've supplied. It’s such a very different region with him in it.
