Gond and Paladin Class

Hello yet again.. I feel like the newbie filling the board up with question

I really liked the roleplay aspects that could come from a follower of Gond the Wonderbringer.

My plan called for Favored Soul / Paladin / Divine Champion.

But when I went to take a Paladin level, I was given a choice of dieties and Gond wasn't on it.
I am afraid that will mess up my Choice of weapons, and the Roleplay I wanted to do.

So I took DC where I planned to take my first Paladin level (and really hated to do that!).

Is my build screwed? And can I never be a Paladin and follow Gond the Wonderbringer?

Gond being a True Neutral deity, I don't think he supports the Lawful Good paladins.

Hmm strange.. he accepted me when I started as a Favored Soul.

As lawful good?

That's different... only certain deities allow Paladins, though if chaotic good Sune can have them there's no reason a true neutral deity can't.

As far as I am aware, Sune is the only exception to the one-step rule in regards to Paladins.

Or I may remember something about Kossuth having paladins, but that is a sketchy memory that I'd have to look up. Apart from those, though, there are no paladins of gods that are not LN, LG or NG.

So is there a fix for my problem?

I can either stay Favored Soul / Divine Champion
Or.. I can add another splash of something.

Any suggestions? Maybe just stay FS / DC? If so how many of each?

Currently
12 Favored Soul
1 Divine Champion

If you're dipping Paladin for edm you can just dip Cleric instead.

Hmm.. I like the ideal. At what level could I take it. Sort of off my plan at this point so not sure what to do.

Of course the original thought was to avoid an xp penalty.

Aasimar -- no xp penalty on Paladin

Take cleric 1 and 2 or 3 on a level where you gain a feat and you can take divine might and divine shield.

As to xp penalty the only option there is to select an appropriate deity from the paladin list.

None of those choices have a favored weapon of Warhammer. I wonder how that will mess with my current weapon feats.

I could take the Paladin dip and always change dieties I suppose. Not a perfect solution.

I don't think you can select a non paladin deity with paladin levels. Changing deities will impact your weapon feats I think.... maybe if you take paladin after level 11?

Could this work?

http://nwn2db.com/build/?289699

EDIT: oops.. forgot to make it public. Now the build can be seen.

Kossuth has his Lawful tendencies, and thus you can roll a Lawful Good/Evil cleric of Kossuth in game. I do not recall Kossuth having Paladins in a Forgotten Realms setting. So maybe this is what you are remembering?

Gond and Oghma allow all alignments.

But... Can you imagine how a Paladin of Gond would act? There is a 'workshop' and an orphanage burning side by side. The Paladin of Gond goes: 'Quick lets us save the ballistas from that workshop! We cannot let such mechanical marvels be destroyed!'

Or how about the behaviour of a Paladin of Oghma? 'Yes, yes, this book enslaves the minds of whoever opens it, it also summons demons to the mortal realm on a turn of a page, but it contains KNOWLEDGE, so we cannot destroy it!'

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand:

This server has fixed dispels. Hence, when you get hit by a dispel, the dispel checks the caster level of spell instead of your hit dice. This can make that caster level of 24 rather unreliable, which is not the end of the character, but it means that you will need to purchase the same equipment that a non-magical fighter would. Not to mention force you to re-apply some spells like Divine Power more often that not.

A Favored Soul 26/Paladin 4 would get Epic Divine Might earlier, and Epic Divine Might is a very nice thing to have.

All very good advice.. Advice I'm more than happy to take. How do I lose the level I gained in DC? (The last level I took)

If nothing else I could start over. That would bite because of the friends I have made but it is what it is

and yes.. I would save any of the marvelous inventions...
