Build Challenge: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting Barbarian
Yeah, it would be easy to make a strength based two-weapon fighting ranger, but I don't wanna. Thus how to make one with the class of all classes, barbarian?

Wood elf for bonus to str and dex. Standard b20/ak10 (or WoD10). Easiest waywo get PTSD and still have good str to qualify for epic rage. Con will be a bit low so may want standard rage to help with your duration. AC should still be ok with ice troll berserker.

I was kind of leaning towards a Barbarian 20/Fighter 10 myself, on a Air/Earth Genasi that could start out with 18 in both strength and dexterity. The fighter bonus feats help with Two-Weapon Fighting feats. Could get Weapon Focus to improve AB.

Fighter

My first instinct was that of Sun Wukong's as well. Race: Tanarukk. Barb 20 / Fighter 10, regular rage. I'd also go for Northlander Hewing (represented by Monkey Grip on the builder). Don't know exactly how the attack sequence cut off works, but hope that only the lowest AB attacks get cut off. The resulting numbers look surprisingly good, though rages will be a little short.
Dervish may be even better, though will lack Steadfast and detection:

Re: Build Challenge: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting Barbarian
to each their own... I'd go earth over air for the extra con. Going AK you need twf, itwf, gtwf, iron will. Still 3 left for ice troll berserker, NH and one other feat. Also gets full tumble and spell craft for extra ac and saves and 2 bonus epic feats. However, with fighter you can afford LoH and improved two weapon defense for 3 ac. In this case it's kind of a toss up, comes down to if you need more pre epic feats or if you need extra epic feats.Sun Wukong wrote:Post Truamatic Stress Dissorder... Why not just stop at GTWF?

and take dragon warrior 10 for 1d4 extra elemental dmg on each weapon (probably unresistable by DR too), fear immunity, blind fight and tumble class skill. Even some useful dragon breath with some constitution.

Because I have already had a Whirlwind Frenzy Barbarian 21/Fighter 4/Tempest 5 on this server.Steve wrote:Why not just stop at GTWF?
Now, Epic Rage is good. But I have also been thinking about going for Weapon Finesse.

Re: Build Challenge: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting Barbarian
If going for NH, PTWF gives 8 APR vs 6 with GTWF. Also, since NWN2 attack sequence fires all main hand attacks first, then all off hand it's a big difference. With GTWF you just get your 6 main hand attacks, losing all off hand attacks. With PTWF you get the first 2 off hand attacks, giving more high attack bonus swings.Steve wrote:Why not just stop at GTWF?
Assuming attack bonus 45, with gtwf you'd have
45/40/35/30/25/20
PTWF would add another attack at 45 and 40 to the end of the sequence.

I wasn't asking for the stats, I was asking why Big Monkey needed PTWF—which costs more in the build reasoning—which he answered.

Re: Build Challenge: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting Barbarian
I've never made a Tanarukk, since the server Tanarukks are not exactly real Tanarukks. But the biggest downside for me is the late Mighty/Epic Rage. The earlier you get those two, the faster you get your AC up among other things. But on the other hand, you have avoided the need to get Able Learner feat.Rudolph wrote:Fighter

As for a more dexterity based Barbarian: Barbarian 20/Swashbuckler 6/Anointed Knight-Warrior of Darkness 4 could work. Epic Rage is wonderful and all that, but I think I could settle for Mighty Rage. It would dual wield pair of light weapons and get the Insightful Strike intelligence damage with Deadly Defense on top. Northlander Hewing could be used as well to overcome DR. This build would basically want to have +4 strength item instead of the +2 one, but could also make use out of the +3 from Belt of Growth.
Thoughts?

Re: Build Challenge: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting Barbarian
Not PTWF, so feel free to dismiss this mild thread hijack
But this question made me think about Dexterity barbarians in general and the following
Barbarian 10 / Bear Warrior 10/Shadow Dancer 10
Wood Elf
Epic Dodge and AC, plus can alternate IKD and HiPS on 1v1 fights
Expose Weakness when no bear rage. Would be totally OP if could use both
Swapping Barb for Warrior of Darkness eases up skill points but less feats / Barbarian goodies. Swapping to 10 WoD / 3 SD is more offense for no dodge.
Unfortunately a PTWF Barbarian / 10 Shadow Dancer with IKD, Epic Dodge, Expose Weakness, and HiPS but without Northland Hewing and Deadly Defense is no damage

Re: Build Challenge: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting Barbarian
I assume that would be a Barbarian 20/Shadowdancer 10. You would basically get as high base strength as you can while going for that 25.wurdpass wrote: Unfortunately a PTWF Barbarian / 10 Shadow Dancer with IKD, Epic Dodge, Expose Weakness, and HiPS but without Northland Hewing and Deadly Defense is no damage
On a Wood Elf you could go for:
Code: Select all
STR: 19
DEX: 19
CON: 10
INT: 8
Wis: 8
Cha: 8Code: Select all
STR: 21 (Great Strength feat and the 7th ability increase on level up)
DEX: 25 (Six first ability increases on level up)
CON: 10
INT: 8
Wis: 8
Cha: 8Level 1: Able Learner
Level 3: Two-Weapon Fighting
Level 6: Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
Level 9: Dodge
Level 10: Northlander Hewing
Level 12: Greater Two-Weapon Fighting
Level 15: Mobility
Level 18: Monkey Grip or Blindfight or Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting
Level 21: Epic Prowess
Level 23: Expose Weakness
Level 25: Great Strength
Level 27: Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting
Level 29: Epic Dodge
Level 30: Epic Rage
Which means that damage wise the above might be feasible. Able Learner is pretty much required due to skills, thus there is no way to get Improved Knockdown. But I suppose the potential of dual wielding two Manticore Greatswords with Northlander Hewing could be some sight.
Skill points:
32 in Hide
32 in Move Silently
30 in Tumble
Whirlwind Frenzy could give you an extra attack and some of that much needed AC on this glass cannon, and Expose Weakness would lower AC for you to land more hits.
27 (BAB)
+ 11 (33 strength with Epic Rage)
+ 1 (Epic Prowess)
+ 4 (Enchantment Bonus)
- 2 (Northlander Hewing)
- 2 (Dual wielding)
- 2 (Monkey Grip)
- 2 (Oversized off hand weapon)
- 2 (Whirlwind Frenzy...)
= 33...
