one more question. if you write in a language other than common, is it translated on the pages of the book for you or is it gibberish even if you know the language.

Well, that Wiki article states the following:

If a reader does not know the language on the page, that part of the text will appear as language appropriate gibberish to him.

No idea regarding color changes. But you can look at the book before you finalize it. So, try using the color tags and see what happens?

Languages are automatically translated if you know them, otherwise they will only exist through their cipher.

Colour codes work just as well in books as they do in biographical descriptions or chat. Check your colours before finalizing, though. Some of the lighter spectrum are nigh unreadable.
