Foreigner Background Feat not granting extra language

RCRed two characters. Kept the INT score the same, and took "Foreigner" to get an extra language as DMs have been poo-pooing RP for even a single extra language. The guidance has been to RCR and take the foreigner background feat. Neither got the extra language from the feat. This has been fixed on one character by a DM, but will still need fixing on the other. The feat will need fixing in general.

Also, you may wish to remove the text on the server that pops up on login that explicitly says you may role play for an extra language since that seems to no longer be the case.

There's actually two foreigner feats... One which supposedly works and another which doesn't. No way for the player to know which does and which doesn't.

I try to be polite and understanding, but words escape me atm... I am sure a DM will fix my remaining character, so *breath* maybe the high ups need to get together and discuss the languages thing a little more?

I get bent out of shape because I truly... and with great passion... HATE grinding. RP simply does not afford the same amount of recovery XP to get you back to thirty that grinding does. That's my personal thing, not a complaint for higher up, to explain why my normal polish is not present. I really do try to be diplomatic. To RCR and get tripped up on something like this is a little more than frustrating, and I would have looked more closely if it had even been mentioned that there were two feats.

Anyway, I'm sure my other character will get fixed, so I will stop whining now.

Actually, from 20-30 RP is about as efficient as grinding. Every tick you get something like 20 + d(level) XP so it's always 21xp per tick at first level, but becomes more variable the more levels you gain. Considering you can get two or three ticks per minute that is something like ~4,000 XP per hour if you are typing a lot (ie, typing short lines instead of maxing out the number of characters). Depending on the type of RP this is possible, but unless you are just trying to gain XP without allowing others to put their interjections in it's probably going to be closer to ~2,000-2,500 XP per hour. Due to the lower XP per mob in epics, unless you can join a decently efficient group you are not going to get more than 2,500 XP per hour grinding mobs, you just wont.

Up to 20, grinding mobs is the most efficient method of leveling. Even with what appears to be a 50xp per kill cap, there are areas where you can earn about 5,000 XP per hour solo grinding, but once you hit 20 that is no longer possible. Now, if you can get 2-4 other players together to take on a CR+1 area and kill mobs quickly you can still gain XP at a faster clip, but then you could also slow down and RP WHILE adventuring (you know, like how D&D works in a pnp session) and will still gain more XP than you would trying to solo grind mobs or standing around a fire RP'ing.

So basically get a group together and go adventure. It's more fun, you won't really think about the XP/leveling because it's fun and you will actually be gaining XP in a pretty efficient manner.

The other mentions: you get +1 Lore, -1 Diplomacy.

Both have icons of their own.

Anyhow, I see no harm in changing the name of the +1 Language granting 'Foreigner' backround trait into something like 'Linguist' or whatever...
