TKL Drum (Basic) purchased at E. Farmlands still does not include War Drummer as a usable class. Least expensive drum (usable) in UL is 9k gold.

Looks like updating hte item is not enough, you also have to update the shop

The War Cry Drum buyable at the Wide market in BG states it gives +3 AC, but this doesn't take effect when equipped.
