booted on login

I just returned after many years. I bought the digital version since my computer has problems with the original game discs and so got a new cd key, or serial key or whatever it's called these days.

I get booted upon login with my old or a newly created character.

I no longer have the physical media that I originally used to play on this PW several years ago, but have recently re-acquired the game digitally. I'm guessing the fact that I'm also receiving the "You have been booted" message is because I'm trying to log in with my old characters tied to my old ID and serials keys? Can someone help me?
