In Memoriam: Xanfyrst
It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of Xanfyrst, a devoted long-time player of the Baldur’s Gate server. On June 15th 2018 he died in his home from a sudden heart attack, at the age of 37. I’m not sure if any of you were aware of this already, but I feel it’s only right that you all know what happened to him. I know that he had many friends here, and many more that interacted with his characters.
This information arrives late, simply because it was not immediately apparent what had happened. His sudden disappearance was a cause for concern, yet one does not want to assume the worst. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, where I scoured the internet in search of any information regarding his whereabouts or what happened to him, but I found nothing. Until a few weeks ago, when I chanced upon his obituary and learned about his passing, and found the name of his mother.
I’ve since then been in contact with her, and she confirmed what had happened. She asked me to send her regards to all of you who were his friends. It means the world to her that he had you guys, and she wanted you to know that.
He was my friend for many years, and I will miss him.

I feel like I got punched in the stomach. we hadn't been close for years but he was one of the first friends I'd made on the server. I regret not keeping contact with him and I am sure his loss will be felt keenly by the community. he made a lot of contributions as an rp'er and as a genuinely fun guy to hang around with. my deepest condolences to his family and to you sierante

This is terrible news, and he was only 37 too. I'm so sorry Sierante. If you are still in contact with his family, please give them our deepest condolences.

I really don't have words. There are few people I consider an OOC friend, and any who knows me knows I'm antisocial as hell. He went out of his way to bring me into the server community as one of the first and funnest RP story-lines I went on. He went out of his way to keep in touch with me when I deployed, and was a genuinely good person for the community and on an OOC level. He's already being missed on this end, I appreciate the update as I've been wondering where he's been. And I wish he didn't pass, the worlds worse off without him.

Re: In Memoriam: Xanfyrst
Words fail me.
He'd sent me a PM a while back, and when I eventually responded, I noticed that it stayed unread. I figured he'd gone to another game but would return one day.
I'm just... heartbroken. Thank you for reaching out to his family, and thank you for letting his gamer friends know.

Terrible news, and such a young person too.
Sad, but thankyou for sharing. Another reminder to us all to appreciate those around us, and not to take their presence for granted.

He had always teased that he would walk away from BGTSCC one day, and never look back...and thus I assumed he kept to his word last summer, when he disappeared from the plans and the play.Xanfyrst on June 5th, 2018 wrote:Mon Jun 04, 2018 11:00 pm Bon soir mes amies...

Not exactly how one wants to be reminded of mortality... Rest well friend. You will be missed.

Re: In Memoriam: Xanfyrst
This was a shock to read today. I had a lot of fun running Eliphas's retirement event, and I'll miss Xanfyrst's excellent storytelling.
I'm sorry you had to find out the way that you did, Sierante, but I'm glad you were able to get some closure. It's also nice that you were able to talk to his family. I'm sure it brings his mother some happiness to know that there are people out there in the great, wide world who cared for him, were and are thinking of him, and will miss him now that we can spend no more time with him.
He'll be remembered here, of that I am certain.
Thank you for letting us all know this news, sad though it is. He was very much one of our own.

My sincere condolences to his friends here and at home. He was an OG of the server. While not a close friend, his passion for the server and the stories herein were admirable, and he was always held in high esteem by many. 37 years old. Damn. Rest in peace.
