Having regained freedom from its Amnian annexation in late 1354, Beregost stands proudly on its own in its idyllic location upon the Coast Way, nestled amid farm and field. It is governed by a newly-appointed ruling Council of five, these being trusted and well-loved citizens chosen from among the township. Home to a prominent temple of Lathander, the people of Beregost are nonetheless tolerant of the varied folks who pass through, who offer friendliness and business, and take care to respectfully uphold the laws of the town.

The Most Radiant Kelddath Ormlyr has convened a Governing Council for the newly independent Beregost. As its first action, the Council has announced a new set of laws for the town. These laws will apply to all denizens of the town as well as any travelers passing through. The list of laws and punishable crimes below has been published on bulletin boards across the town:
1. Disruption of Peace - Disruption of life for a citizen of Beregost will result in fines, a minimum tenday imprisonment, or confiscation of items. The offenses defined as disruption of peace include but are not limited to:
5. Illicit Trade - Trade and sale of slaves is an illegal practice, punishable by imprisonment. However, license may be obtained from the Council of Beregost to deal in the trade of substances, including but not limited to alcohol and pipeweed. Neglecting to obtain the necessary permit may incur a fine, temporary ban from Beregost, imprisonment, or possible exile. Such trade may include:

Re: DM Rumors of Beregost
The frequency of Militia patrols seem to be stepped up in recent days around Beregost. Men and women of the citizenry who have been training with Commander Cullan Mirrowell show their dedication and focus in light of some catalyst or another that has made itself known, participating in frequent morning drills as well as manning the borders of the autonomous city and its farmlands.
For all that they show a fair degree of militaristic precision, some of their arms and armor seem to be quite lacking at this point, especially among the members who have joined in latter years.
Notice also goes up on tavern boards and at the temple for fresh blood; it seems the Commander of the Militia is seeking residents to join up in a recruitment drive.
Unrelated to this, word begins to tumble through the town and surrounding countryside that the local Harvestmistress of Chauntea, Councilwoman Ehra Belrose, seeks druids, rangers, or those who venerate Chauntea to a small Midsummer summit in upcoming tendays.

Word is passed to the local shrine of Mielikki and among those who practice a more natural lifestyle near the town, and to the pockets of folk who worship Chauntea specifically that a summit marking the solstice draws nigh. Councilwoman and Harvestmistress Ehra Belrose might be seen quietly making preparations for such when glimpsed about her daily business.

Under the watchful eye of an imposing man in armor, three women skirt the outer border of Beregost to a specific site among the rolling hills. Here, the forces of nature are mysteriously called forth - though gently, and fully intentioned for some ultimately edifying purpose.

Thunderhammer's smithy seems to see a slow but steady stream of additional business in recent days, the hiss of hot metal in water and the tink tink tink! of his tools giving shape to raw materials flooding the vicinity of his shop.

Samuel Feldepost III might be seen prowling around his premises with a sharp and exasperated eye, taking down grudging notes and, from time to time, muttering to himself and shoving his hands through his hair in annoyance.

Though Councilman Travenhurst was seen to leave the meeting before it began, somewhat urgently directed back to Travenhurst Manor, other members of the Council of Beregost were said to have convened with a diplomatic ambassador of elven description.

Slowly but surely, the Militia members of Beregost can be seen in new, sturdier vital pieces of armor, carrying new-forged weapons on their routine patrols. It seems that the call for donations of tendays past have yielded the fruit of generosity from several people, and a notice of thanks is posted in the town hall with the names of those who donated or coordinated donations:

More and more sightings of undead rising have been reported near Beregost. Some Adventurers lead by a man known by many as Jalib, a great female Seer and accompanied by a mage called Sirion who seemed to have found a connection between the undead sprouting from the grounds and the local fauna. Apparently they had to fight undead wyvern and even a few raised dragons though not much more than bones remained of these formerly powerful beings.
[ The sight of one of many of the wyverns that broke free from the ground surrounding the very feet of the poor adventurers ]

Re: DM Rumors of Beregost
Rumours spread fast in a small town like Beregost.
It has only been a week and a couple days since the passing of some of the most beloved people of Beregost, perished in the fire of a large barn.
Graham, Joe, Mathilda, Morgan, Ranghild, Durn and the half-elven Eldrath had all tried to help the people that had sat together in the barn to celebrate a birthday party like no other for old Graham when a sudden fire broke out, the seven of them rescued every single guests from the flames got embrace, yet for them all help came too late as the roof collapsed ontop off them, burying them underneath heavy beams and burning straw.
Their graves were still fresh, each and everyone of them had gotten a gravestone of only the finest quality, cemetery gardener Augustus had planted the nicest of flowers in great arrqys for each of the graves making it a truly worthy display of the small towns gratitude towards the genuine people.
The engravings on the stones sound as follows :
The graves prepared with great care hasd since been opened and the beloved removed from their coffins. It seemed as though they were taken with great care in an attempt to not destroy the made graves and their decorations, yet the villagers mourned in rage about the stolen bodies of their oh so cherished friends.

Always hard working never shy to lend a hand. Rest in peace pal.
Mathilde
To its you will always just be known as Granny rest in peace friendly old lady.
Morgan
Certainly the best to teach anyone who'd be interested about the many historical things that one might need to know, thank you so much!
Ranghild
Probably the wildest of our farm ladies here, you were different coming from the far north but you were one of us! Rest in peace fair ma'am.
Durn
You were quiet yet always around when asked for help, many owe you their lives, thank ye! Rest in peace proud warrior.
Eldrath
The best musician we ever had, thank you for the many hours of song and happyness. Rest in peace and melody.

Re: DM Rumors of Beregost
Trails of blood were traced from the Lion's Way by a group of adventurers. They reported a dozen small bloodied footprints. They pursued the trail through dusk. Eventually, they find themselves at High Hedge looking upon a burning farmhouse and one of them rushes to investigate. A group of powerful gnomish bandits emerged from a pile of viscera and called an attack. Several adventurers were injured but were ultimately victorious. Most Radiant of Lathander, Kelddath Ormlyr sent several of his priests to tend to the fire and warns adventurers to be vigilant on the road, and offers his temple as a sanctuary for any weary travelers.

Re: DM Rumors of Beregost
Remaining watchful and somewhat insular well into the new year, guided by the veteran hand of Councilman Cullan Mirrowell, Commander of the Beregost militia, Beregost seems to have achieved a discreet but significant victory in the early summer. After a series of mysterious deaths delayed post-occupation building efforts in Beregost, it's said the site of these deaths began to be quietly investigated by Commander Mirrowell and Councilwoman Kastyla Revathon.
Under that leadership and outfitted by numerous benefactors, the Beregost militia forces are said to have—at last—beaten back a lurking threat that had, like a parasite, clung to an opportunistic fingerhold upon the town.
In early Kythorn, unadvertised to outsiders, the townspeople are rumored to have gathered together for a service commemorating the lives of those workers who had been found murdered at the building site, led by Councilman Kelddath Ormlyr, Most Radiant of Lathander. The building site itself undergoes some manner of ritual over the land in the following days, overseen by local Chuantean druids and by Councilwoman Ehra Belrose, cleric of Chauntea.
As a result of these doings, the atmosphere of Beregost seems rather celebratory as Midsummer draws near, light and full of cheer.

Early Morning in Beregost
On Hammer 15th 1358 two merchants and one of their guards were put to rest with the blessings of Lathander. The House of the Morninglord can be seen gathered around the three coffins speaking quietly amongst themselves. The three merchants belonged to a recent trade outfit known as The Fickle Rat Trade Post. The three were buried in morning under clear skys. On behalf of the small merchant group Morris Vanbar personally wants to thank the Radiant Heart for their generosity and kindness. Without their determination, these three men may have never returned home.

Re: DM Rumors of Beregost

A Collective Decision
Following the tribulation from arcane pressure in Amn, Beregost has offered a statement followed by countless fliers around the city. The governors meeting has adjourned and Beregost will not be taking in or assisting any arcanists fleeing the Amnian Nation. Beregost will retain its neutrality on the subject. Those using the city to harbor arcanists away from Amn will be met with banishment from the town.
