Background: Zahra's history begins with his family: his mother and his father's parents worked hard to build the Ashaban name in Eltabbar. Zahra's mother, Zvalana, was especially successful with her cutthroat business acumen, guile, and beauty. However, in Thay's magocracy, money can only buy so much power. Enter, Zahra, a child prodigy in the arcane arts, and the perfect tool for Zvalana to propel the Ashaban family into politics. Zahra's mother would invest heavily in his education, with the sole purpose of having him become a Red Wizard.

However, Zvalana's business competition knew very well of her plan, and would see it thwarted. After an attempt on Zahra's life, his mother took care to arrange for Zahra to be secretly moved out of Eltabbar, and out of the reach of her competition's assassins. Zahra would be moved to a different land, to become an apprentice and continue his path towards being a Red Wizard at an enclave; in particular, the enclave at Baldur's Gate.

Goals: To achieve status of Red Wizard, and to propel the Ashaban family into power.
