Word of Changing Clarifications: for the Wiki & me

Unread post by Steve »

About Word of Changing for the Warlock (answers will be updated to the Wiki):

1. Enhancement Bonus on Gloves/Bracers.
It would seem EB on gloves/bracers does not transfer over to WoC forms that are Unarmed (Creature Type). Is this intentional? Is it not that EB on Weapons transfers over to Weapons on Forms with weapons?

2. Permanent Enchantments on Gloves/Bracers

As per the Polymorph Wiki page: "Permanent weapon enchantments carries over to creatures who use weapons. Temporary ones are removed to avoid an exploit." It would seem that permanent enchantments on gloves/bracers do not transfer over to WoC forms that are Unarmed attacks. For example, I have a pair of gloves with 1d4 acid dmg, which will not carry over to the WoC forms. Is this on purpose or just oversight?

3. Options

a) Would it be possible to all Word of Changing to switch between Shapes, instead of having to return to Original Form and then choose a new Shape?
b) What would it take to get a ranged attack Shape on the list of WoC forms?

Cheers!

For one and two the polymorph effect is what determines what crosses over. It's easy to turn it on for what slots are included, however it's a lot harder to change how each of those items cross over onto the new form. The person who designed it at bugsidian clearly didn't believe gloves are a weapon.

As for option a, possible yes, easy and worth the time to do? no. Unless i am missing an alternative you would have to create a custom UI

Unarmed shapes typically have higher base stats so they are balanced for gloves/weapons not to transfer. So with current design it's intentional.
a) Would it be possible to all Word of Changing to switch between Shapes, instead of having to return to Original Form and then choose a new Shape?
Would take a lot of work (probably custom UI like Ariella said) and still likely not be very smooth.
b) What would it take to get a ranged attack Shape on the list of WoC forms?
Do you really want one, considering hideous blow will never work at range?

Thank you for the responses.

While one not interested in the power aspect, I am interested in the variety aspect. Thus, one gets more variety of Play from using items (where applicable). I'd offer a suggestion to reduce the unarmed shape powers just enough to be able to allow for gloves/bracers to work, which would fulfill that variety (just like Weapons do).

As for ranged shape, it would depend then on how much of ranged weapons would transfer over. Mighty? Extra damage? Crits? Stuff like that.
