Re: nwn1
I played on a couple RP servers last winter both on my Android and on the PC. I also played the campaigns in full many years ago. Long story short the video game engine it uses is so outdated, despite the updates, that I quit for performance issues and came back to NWN2. Somehow the NWN2 engine runs smoother on old PCs than NWN1 does.
Now, I will say that it was a blast playing NWN1 on the phone and I wish that was possible with NWN2 but when RPing you really benefit from the mouse and keyboard. I would also recommend playing the campaigns on mobile if you can though it does eat battery. NWN1 was on sale in the play store for $2 when I got it.
Some PWs had really intricate faith and crafting systems that reminded me of playing text based RP MUDs. You know where you actually have to pray everyday in order to cast spells and even actually eat to survive. Those were fun but once again the NWN2 engine blows those out of the water and the incredible detail in BGTSCC honestly made me regret ever taking hiatus from here.
There was one very well crafted RP server based in Cormyr with an incredible RP community, especially the active Dwarven crew! I wish they would discover the Sword Coast here because they really brought that server to life for me. However, after playing for a while and getting established the DMs running it suspended me for going into the same dungeon twice in one week. I was berated for 5 minutes about fairness and then immediately suspended. The DM was so condescending about it that I felt like my Mother was disowning me and if it was that important to him I obviously didn't fit in there. Forum posts revealed that to be a normal occurance so just be careful if you play on that Cormyr server.
Perhaps that was a bit long winded and I probably answered questions you never asked but there you have my recent personal experience with NWN1.
Anyone else try it lately?

Re: nwn1
How can even someone say that engine of nwn2 blows nwn1 out of water.
Graphic maybe. But that is all. NWN2 is so awfuly inferior in so many aspects: number of crashes, models of monsters, interface and control character customization (clothing and stuff is easier to customize IG and change unlike nwn2) and so on. Plus EE edition fixed many bugs and allowed many hard coded things to be changed. They even made hak autodownloader. EE is much better for the servers staffs to handle and change, and develop.
I do not want to compare servers, but just look at the custom content nwn1 world do have and what BGTSCC has. BGTSCC is pulling shorter side of the rope in this regard (for whatever reasons).
And of course if Beamdog did EE for NWN2 you would suffer on your current PCs with it. They somehow suceed to make it more hardware demanding while not increasing graphic or so a lot. Optimalization is really bad for nwn1 EE
(i could not run it on my laptop as i did, was getting lags!).

Re: nwn1
It totally came down to the optimization for me to say that the NWN2 engine is better. I don't ever crash in NWN2, since using the client extension anyway, even if the server does now and then. For some reason this All In One desktop can run NWN2 on most medium settings (low AA and shadows) smoothly yet NWNEE constantly stuttered on the lowest settings with everything off, even in single player. I'm not sure how they managed that because like you said NWN2 looks way better graphically.JIŘÍ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 5:29 pm How can even someone say that engine of nwn2 blows nwn1 out of water.

That said, playing NWNEE on the Android was a treat. It makes a great mobile game and seemed optimized for it.

Re: nwn1
Various servers had put various timers and counter was kinda easy you spotted guy to drink potion just run off it lasted like 3-6 second only
But i am not advocating for nwn1, i played it 10 years myself so coming to nwn2 was refreshing (just kind of shocking, seeing how in older games many things work better or are already improved…)
