My name is Bash, full name Bastien Belfire ‘Kessemer’. I am a native of Baldur’s Gate who has returned after more than twenty years. I hope my name in itself would be enough to establish my identity, for I find myself confronted with a problem that is beyond my capabilities to solve it. The property that has been in my family’s possession for as long as I remembered, turns out to have been claimed by the city and sold to a new owner about five or six years after my parents vanished. In reality they died.
Please allow me to explain specifically about my situation.
More than twenty years ago, when I was boy of about ten years old, I traveled together with my parents to a distant continent known as Zakhara. But before we were able to set foot on land, our ship ended up in a storm and I was cast overboard. Days later I was found on one of the northern shores of the land, and learned that I was the only survivor. The authorities placed me under supervision until a solution was found for this foreign orphan I was. In the years after I was bought or hired, call it what you like, by a sheikh’s scout, and was trained and deployed as a fighter-servant. I had nothing, I owed not a single coin, not even the clothes on my body. This was my life for many years to come, until some unexpected event relased me from these duties. I still owned nothing, but had now at least some skill which I could use to slowly obtain things of my own.
About two tendays ago I arrived back in the region of Baldur’s Gate, only to learn my parental home was inhabited by a new family who claim to have bought it legitimately from the city. Now I do understand the city likes to avoid buildings standing unoccupied for too long, but I would like this building to return to the ‘Kessemer’ family, which is just me I’m afraid. There are people who possibly could vouch for my identity after so many years, though I’d have to track them down as they moved.
Before I do that, I wish to learn from you what would be the proper steps to solve this matter. I have no desire at all to kick out the family with three children right away, leaving them with nothing like how I once have been. Since they paid you for the house, as I assume, I am counting on your insight and judgement to help us all reach a proper solution.
